peacemaker and a tech 21 trademark 10 for noodling and maybe my next amp will be a landau fender combo because it is a small grab and go practical tube amp for hawaii jamming with killer clean and pedal friendly

however what i'd like acces to play whenever i want is a friedman steve stevens, henning cherry bomb, carol ann od-3r or tucanna, eggie m4, mesa mark V 25 watter, deliverance 60, two rock opal, mojave plexi 45, bogner goldfinger and helios, and suer hedgehog and pt100

you'll have nothing and like it Spaulding!
  Classic!

Two amps for me and very pleased about both of them. I actually play both of them. Any more one winds up sitting.

I'm up to two amps now, Mesa Tremoverb Head and my 5150 II I've owned for a good 12 years now (bought new in 2003).

But I'm not done yet

I'd love to have one of Steve's Cherry Bomb amplifiers as well. A do all inspired amp based on all of the classic marshall modifications all wrapped up into a dependable and solid build.

I'd also love an Engl E670 Special Edition. They do the brutal 7 string stuff justice and still cut in a mix even for the downtuned stuff. They also do exceptionally well in a studio environment for recording.

I'd also like an SLP reissue for the sole purpose of gutting it like a pig and building my own amp design. There exists quite a lot of information regarding this design in the Ann Landers topic. It's been a life goal to complete it, as the design is based on nothing which exists today and has required a lot of engineering to complete so far.

After that, I would be satisfied. I already have the 4x12's I've dreamed of owning, so that is done :)

Two amps is my sweet spot too. Had a Ceriatone Chupacabra and Splawn Quickrod. Was very happy/satisfied. Friend who runs a local shop sent me home with a Friedman Smallbox to try. Dug it... a LOT. Had to pick one to go bye-bye (because I like my two amp restriction)... so both of the two channel amps stayed. The Chup was/is a great amp, but the loop sucks and the Friedman and Splawn loops are very transparent to my ears.

Anyways... between my current two amps and my two Andersons... there's not a whole lot of bases left uncovered. (Got a couple of LPs too... but they rarely come-out to play these days).

Had myself u pto ten at one point, now its two diezels and IM good. I also thinned out the myriad of effects to some basic pedals. Now I chase far less and PLAY far more. win win, the obsession is just that; obsessive.

It is. It's just like any addiction. If one keeps feeding it the craving becomes stronger. If one can get away for a little and fight it, it starts to get easier. Notches in the belt so to speak, It's about recognizing the obsessive behavior in all of us. But as soon as you step over the line back come the cravings. Just like someone deciding a few drags on a smoke will not hurt. Before they know it, right back to 2 packs a day.

I believe part of it is knowing what you want out of your gear, and making a limitation for yourself on how to best achieve it. I've had a gear list I use which was made back in high school. If it's not on that list, it's not something I'd even consider. It's realistic and keeps things in perspective for purpose.

I've been fortunate to play a lot of vintage and boutique gear pieces, but having a list which I keep has really helped curb "unexpected desires" :D

for me there is no way I could make a decision on something I haven't played. the "what if that one better suits me" is what always got me. was the list created from what you alrady had experience with and liked?

Only pieces of gear which were recorded correctly. Be it amplifiers, effects pedals, racked gear, speakers, pedals, you name it. I also watch the classifieds - people normally sell their gear. I'll search forums from the time after that piece of gear is sold from that specific user and normally they tell exactly why they sold it ;) :D
