Favorite Guitarist - pick only one

It is too hard to pick one. It changes from time to time. If you put a gun to my head and said choose I would have to say Joe Satriani. I don't sound anything like him but I would say his music and playing has influenced me the most.

If we're talking lead, Blackmore, if it's rhythm it's Hetfield. Blackmore for my all around "there can be only one" choice. But only up until Dio quit Rainbow.. after that I don't dig his stuff as much.

I'll be the first, and probably the last to name a local guy.. John David. By far, the best guitar player I've ever seen or worked with in my life. He passed back in 2005. I love him and I miss him dearly.

My favorite classical guitarist is Jimmy Hendrix. Because he was the first guy that I saw play behind his back. I love his guitar and his style.

Overall its Lukather

But many close runners up including, Gilmour, EVH, Lynch, DiMartini, Stevens, Beach......

Of all time?

This guy:

For what they're doing right NOW, this guy:

Near impossible question, we all have many favorites and its always changing...nobody really has only ONE!

Happy to see most of my faves already listed...I'll just throw out Greg Howe since he's another of mine that I didn't see mentioned. And tis a shame we haven't listed Michael Lee Firkins thus far...

Adrian Vandenberg.

But then there's Rhoads, Scott Gorham, Gary Moore, Lynch, Campbell, Sykes, Schon, Nuno, Gilbert, Aldrich etc...they all rotate.

Steffen Schackinger...but only for the moment...love his writing the most.
