My favourite high gain amplifier I have owned so far is my 2016 Wizard 100 W MTL
Amazing sounding amplifiers and absolutely beautifully made,
Yes, I also have a 2016 MTL and it's one of my favroites! It has the most note definition of all my amps and sounds very big and uncompressed! Out of curiosity, do you know how the 2012-2013 MTL's compare to the 2016?

Hard to choose. But it seems my 2016 Wizard MTL keeps my occupied. lol :D

My favorite high gain amp I've owned is probably a Bogner Uberschall. I will always say it's kind of a one trick pony, but for high gain it's kind of hard to beat, IMO. I'm actually in the process of trying to sell mine, because I no loner play in a rock/metal band, and don't need an amp with such aggressive voicing. Killer amp though!!

-WIZARD MC I, upgraded to a MCII, Mark Cameron modded power section, there is nothing that can hang with this WIZARD.

What was done on the power section? What are the tonal changes (compared to a stock MC2)?

-my apologies Alex, didn't see this until now,

-this is my first WIZARD, and the only WIZARD I've played, but I will say that it comes as advertised, actually exceeds all my expectations, clips can't do a WIZARD JUSTICE.

-on the back there's 2 nobs, marked BASS & VOICE,.. I messed with them for a little bit, and with both at 50%, it sounded like more power tube saturation,.... Sounded totally bad ass!!... Well totally bad ass is pretty FUCKIN great!! left it there, its impossible to make this amp sound bad, had a chance to talk to Mark, and he told me what they do, and how they work, and most importantly how they interact with each other, the power tubes, and everything else, the "BASS" nob adds fullness, like filling a room fullness & it is the MASTER to the VOICE nob, tried the BASS at 100%, then added the VOICE in 25% increments,..... until 100%,.... "Ohhhhh... FUCK!!!" AND THATS WHERE IT STAYS!!!... more of the very things that makes a WIZARD so special,.... 10x everything!!!! Mark took the biggest sounding, 3-dimensional amp on the planet, and made a BIGGER, PISSED OFF, NO MERCY MONSTER...

Wow, that sounds amazing. Can't even imagine how "more" sounds, as the unmodded MC2 is already way out of what I thought would be possible. That amp is for sure a keeper!

Rivera Knucklehead Tre Reverb.
The Mesa boogie Mark IV was a close second.

My reaction when I think about reaching for Mark III tone controls

Many sound good at home but if it doesnt absolutely work live then I sell it. SLO seems to work best for me live but always sounds best cranked and has a great mid gain which I need...Love camerons but always want a 2nd channel and 100 watts and loop but never owned a ccv. This naylor I have sounds really good too

This modded JCM 800 - everything at 12 o'clock

Sounds killer! What mods did you have done to it?

Thank you, pretty much the works, over the years Waz at Tone Revival Engineering in Melbourne Australia has helped me achieve what I've been hearing in my head, we've changed and tested every valve, cap, filter in that thing! There's a Jose style output stage, Cameron style input stage, also changing from a Mercury tranny to a Heyboer really helped, as I found the Mercury too stiff.
It's tone never fails to impress.
