Free NAM A2 capture for VH1

It does sound pretty good...And most of what he said makes good sense (for a change). That said...Tone does come from the hands to a certain degree. As an example: some of us have heard the term "gain hands". I believe this references players who have the ability to create a more aggressive sounding tone by how they slant the pick when striking the strings and squeeze the strings with their fret hand. I have witnessed this many times, a guy will plug in and it sounds like someone added a mild boost or something. In my experience, the phenomenon is real.

I don't have it. I just thought it sounded pretty good / accurate.

There's a link in the YT video description to get it; IIRC it also includes the NAM A2 capture? Not sure what's included

I tried it, not bad. Sounds pretty similar to 2dor's JMP2204, just with a low cut filter.

Its an exe that installs a vst3, so no nam file included. Just what you see in the video.

In their mix there is some studio magic so at first it was under-whelming but overall it sounds pretty good. I played for a bit while browsing the web and I think not being in the daw helps my ears. After some adjusting I ended up at about the default settings.

What is real interesting is how much it sounded almost exactly like the 2204 capture. Who knows - did they rip it off or do they all sound the same? A potential downside of this nam stuff is if you get the whole amp + cab capture you will sound exactly like anyone else using it.

Thanks for checking it out....I wasn't really paying attention to Fricker's ranting, only the sound demos, but I thought he said there's a free NAM A2 capture...I'd rather not watch the video again lol


another downside of these NAM captures: there is gonna be a lot of garbage to sort through...like the earlier days of IRs. I got one of the first Two Notes Torpedo CABs and even sorting through the dozens of IRs in there was tedious.

for guitar digital processing, I have a few plugins I like (Neural DSP, PolychromeDSP), and my Helix Stadium XL. Not jumping into the NAM capture rabbithole.

Sounded damn close.....Glenn still didn't lay out exactly how he got to the end result other than sum of all parts and the importance of the greenback. I don't think he stated what amp was actually modeled? Did he?

The whole point of the video is to farm emails for marketing...so just use a burner. It sounds decent but the mix is the star here.

Notice the rhythm guitar is louder than the lead during the solo. Some of that may be ego but a lot of these captures sound pretty thin on leads vs the real thing.

I went to the guitar player's channel who covered the EVH playing style and as good as the NAM capture is, the whole vibe comes from that player who knows what he's doing. Hats off to him who spent many hours working on his EVH chops.

NAM stuff sounds great, I am digging the free tone3000 plugin. I could throw those tones in a little hardware pedal and be happy.

For Windows users, after installing the plugin, you go into your users/user/App data/Roaming folder, you'll find the folder called Eye Scream Man, and in there you'll find the NAM file and two IRs and you can use them in your own player with your own choice of IR if you want.
