Isis is another band i remember listening to long ago but nothing ever really stuck. might have to go back with both bands and try again

Not at all. Al Wilson is basically southern soul. The band you posted is a pop group.

I stumbled on to the fact that Manson's last album is actually & surprisingly quite good.
