This is supposed to be a modded plexi? Can any Marshall guys comment on that? Also, what other amps are voiced similar to a plexi? I kind of understand when people say "British" style.. But when people say plexi, it makes me think of something else

These amps are worlds away from a plexi. This is a take on the famous José circuit.
The voicing is not the same, the distortion is generated by the preamp mostly (three hot stages (2.7k/0.68uf)x2 and (820 ohms/don't remember about decoupling). Basically it's a really hot and tight jcm 800.

Though I have to say, After seeing the circuit I'm not to impressed. Way to much treble cut early in the amp. Could be done better to avoid killing to much of the Marshall character but still keep the harshness of the dual 2.7k/0.68uf stages at bay. Well well, the guy makes a living and you guys seem to enjoy his amps. I'd take a soldano or a bogner over this any day though.

Hmm. I only say plexi because that what it says on the Friedman website.

I have a 6505 and a Jim root terror right now. I had the tiny terror at one point. I really like what orange does so far and would like to check out a rockverb.

Another one I liked was a friends triple Rec that may or may not have been modded. The harmonic content felt like it was popping off the fretboard even at lower volumes

I just checked out the bogner site. Damn they have a lot of amps. Where to begin? I know their preamps were/are legendary and were used on so many albums back in the day

Seeking clarification on this 2016 updated BE-100. I'm seeing a total of 4 swtiches and 5 on the amp in this thread. Does it come STOCK with both the 1) Gain "S"tructure switch AND 2) the "Voltage" switch??

Thanks for the help!

NO , RedPlated got his modded with a voltage switch. He is a showoff. Don't let him confuse you.

Lol, go fuck yourself Mr. Biggums..... :)

There are actually 7 switches on the 2016. I had Dave mod mine and remove two of them... Now are you confused?

I was with you all the way up to the last sentence... when you offer an even darker amp choice that sounds nothing like a plexi (bogner) Talk about ridding the amp of classic marshall characteristics!

If you want a modded plexi, Metro-Plex it the way to go

Agreed. The Metroplex is the best Marshall type amp I've tried

Clips and whats new about the 2016's tone?

Man right at 6:40. Those octaves sound completely amazing. That whole section 6:40-7:30 was crazy and some of the lead notes earlier on blew me away.

Seems like a killer amp.

I'd agree, I picked up an MCI a month ago and it certainly rocks! Still have a Metropoulos 12000 NMV Plexi that is killer for the plexi thing but had the Metroplex last fall and it didn't do much for me and was kind of flubby, couldn't get rid of it here or at TGP and finally traded it off to The Amp House for a different amp that is now gone as well
