Satisfied...?

I'm really close. There are a few small things I want here and there, but they're pretty low priority. It is a weird feeling, but I've been able to spend money on other hobbies which is nice.

Yes and no, depends. I'll say that the more this stuff is used for what it was intended the less I need, and I do need it consistent. I don't need surprises and 'I'll get used to it' because inevitably that bad choice is made at the wrong time hahaha
 
Similar with me. I haven't wanted anything major in years. I love my 3rd Power Kitchen Sink and my Kemper for amp tones and my five Anderson cover any sound and tuning I need. The only thing I'm working on is submitting another Anderson order just because I want an S-style guitar with single coils as I don't have one like that. I haven't had GAS in years.

I would say yes and no. In terms of guitars, I own everything I’ve wanted to own, and traded away a few things I wanted to own but didn’t jive with. In terms of amps, I own more than I need to and have another on the way. That said, there are still amps I’d like to own - e.g. a Fryette, a Soldano, another Diezel (I part exchanged my VH4 recently), a Larry (very unlikely). Not because I need them, but just because I think they’re cool things and they make me smile.

Yes, I've been polluting the 'tube and Instagram with clips of the 67 and the Sirrom when I had that one. I am in talks with him right now about his take on a regular ol' Plexi. As that's one thing that I've always danced around but not yet actually owned.
 
Interesting thread! When I look at my guitar journey started with one guitar and my best years of playing was that one guitar and my Peavey Bandit 112. I did spend a lot of time playing in those years.

Now, I am surrounded by lots of gear, way too much for the talent I have and with a limited time or some evenings I am just to tired after a day of work to just get into it.

Am I satisfied? I'd say yes. I have collected some pretty cool guitars and have some decent amps too. Lots of pedals. And as I get older, I am not as picky as I used to be. I like simplicity.

Do I still lust for new gear? Of course it's fun. So many cool guitars & amps out there. But I have less interest. What I own at the moment makes happy and I am still just an average player. 🤣 :LOL:
 
For sure, several times over, even.

At some point about a year ago it dawned on me that not only did I have the majority of gear I dreamed about as a kid but that I absolutely had all the gear I needed to make whatever music I wanted and the only thing lacking was motivation to do so.

I grew up broke, raised my family on 1 income and didn't make much. l am not financially wealthy (I need a loan to have a new roof installed! ). But over the last 30 years or so I've accumulated some nice stuff that I am happy with. I agree with you in that my biggest obstacle is my discipline to practice is weak. I have health issues that make it hard to play some days, but I can do it. I need to think like Arnold and stop being a girlie man!

Brother, if you raised a family on one income there’s a good chance you stopped being a girlie man a long ass time ago. Good luck to your health!
 
Easy….this shit is fun. Playing is fun, gear is fun. I want to have fun because so much about life isn’t. But…I’ve gotten a lot better at discerning an amp or guitar that is a hoot in the store would not be worth the expense as the sound it makes is already at home.
Plus there is only so much room and how many guitars do you want to keep track of for strings any way.
Age old story, I got old enough to afford what I want but don’t have the youthful exuberance to really use it like I should.

Exactly the reason I don’t like having too many guitars, too many goddamn truss rods to adjust every season change.
