Age old story, I got old enough to afford what I want but don’t have the youthful exuberance to really use it like I should.

I grew up broke, raised my family on 1 income and didn't make much. l am not financially wealthy (I need a loan to have a new roof installed! ). But over the last 30 years or so I've accumulated some nice stuff that I am happy with. I agree with you in that my biggest obstacle is my discipline to practice is weak. I have health issues that make it hard to play some days, but I can do it. I need to think like Arnold and stop being a girlie man!

I can totally relate. I've been there too and always put my family first.

Exactly the reason I don’t like having too many guitars, too many goddamn truss rods to adjust every season change.

Yeah, this. More than about 5 axes and it turns into a part time job keeping them in top working order. Since it ain't paying it turns into money sitting in cases doing nothing. Money sitting in cases I would rather spend on boxes of double chocolate donuts, cases of beer, cases of toilet paper, and cartons of cigs.

Just keeping their strings all alive is a pain in the ass and you’ll change strings on one and depending on the weather and if you don’t pick it up in a few weeks, the strings are fucked again

Strings, truss rods, intonation....I'd rather just be playing a couple guitars than owning a dozen and having to dump time and money into them never mind hunting for the magic pickup combos or guitars with buzzy bridges and whatever else. Too rich for me.

I've never seen a guitar stay in optimal playing condition year round without at least some minor adjustments to truss rods and intonation. I find myself doing that seasonally even on the most stable guitars I've owned.

I'm not adjusting all of them every season. I'm just doing the next one in rotation if needed when I change strings. The room everything is in stays pretty consistent year round so most barely need an adjustment.

An improperly intonated guitar drives me insane.
Truss rod moves, intonation changes, truss needs adjustment.
Midwest weather wreaks havoc on them.
