That was awesome Mark! Great to pick Steve's Brain.

I guess I have to be the Debbie Downer.. I thought it sounded good but it didn't blow me away anymore than a JCM800 with a few mods. Seemed a little fizzie in the higher gain settings. So yeah, just another good sounding Friedman amp but not really a holy grail type thing for me. Prefer the BE.
I'm going with the underdog. Sounds good but........

I'd like to try one and be the judge.

Nice playing (natch) and interview, although Mark looks like he is starstruck lol
I'm a big fan of Steve and Friedman and say this in a constructive way - I'm not digging the way the amp is breaking up early
That is not Steve's usual tight kalashnikov assault.
It was more what I'd expect in the Doug Rappaporte NAMM video, and he used the matching V30 cab
What cab was used here? Not that I think, as the speaker is breaking up too soon and softening the attack.

I think the speakers for this clip were Weber 100-Watt Silver Bells in a 2X12 Mojo mini slant cab. Not V30's....

Its a weber silver bell speaker. Its a Mojo 2x12 cab. So Basically its like a greenback type speaker. Steve likes them but the v30 will have more punch for sure.

Also please listen to the clip on a variety of speakers not just a laptop etc.

FANTASTIC!!!

I agree with Steve on a lot of that stuff. Heck, who am I to argue?
BUT for a guy like me who now plays at home 99% of the time I prefer the extra gain of the HBE/BE. I felt I could get 90% of the SS100 tones with the HBE/BE and have more gain for noodling around at home etc. The SS100 gain was a bit chewier and percussive when played side by side.

SS100 clean is to die for too. Call it Vox or BF or whatever..it's divine.

Hopefully my HBE/BE will arrive this month. No April foolin'.

it was really great to see him playing the billy idol stuff!

I dont know if I personally would want the voxy clean, as i would prefer sparkly fender.

I really think that the speaker is very important to the sound of the amp, and this video sounds different than when I played the amp at NAMM

it had plenty of presence and cut at NAMM for sure. Not as percussive as the Brown Eye.

For my pick attack the SS100 is a better fit than the BE.

In reality the clean is a fender style circuit with a vox eq. Actually the vox circuit has more sparkle to it then the fender style circuit. Remember this is not a vox or fender circuit really.

Very cool of Mark and Steve to do this vid for all of us to see.

Sounds really great. Dave, what are the primary differences between the BE100 and the SS100?
Can either incorporate the "Dave" mods, like sat, VH, etc..?

Just love the sound of the BE100 and what to get clear on the specific differences between the two.

Thanks again for the nice vid...

Didn't care for the overdrive in this particular clip very much. Too thick and soft/fizzy on the high end. Especially when he does fast runs on the neck pickup, no clarity. Mind you I thought it sounded pretty spectacular on the clip of the guy from the amp show? playing Diver Down, VH stuff. So it could just be the way it's mic'd, speaker choice etc. When Steve mentions how modern sounding it is I very much agree. It has the hallmarks of most modern guitar sounds I hear which are thick but not all that distinct and don't have the "Klang" I grew up on. I would totally get guys who are more into modern guitar sounds loving this amp, I just don't gel with that kind of tone. Always appreciate the vids. Wish these amps could be something to be demo'd in person but alas not for us mere, small time retail mortals

Hope the amp does well for you Dave, nice job as always Mark

Nice one LP Freak, you posted that vid right as I was posting...
