I like the old emg-81 in my Yamaha rgx, sounds killer.

I'm thinking of swapping the tone controls in my Edwards Les Paul for the AB 220 and EXG. But I'd put the AB 220 after the bridge volume and the EXG after the neck volume, rather than before the jack like the instructions say, so they're only on one pickup each.

I think I want to take out all the tone controls in my guitars too, and put in the emg active eqs instead. Might not need them, but I never use/like the tone knobs on any guitars. I've got the mid boost and treble boost. I bet I will like a tiny mid boost, and maybe a tine treble boost on my dark epiphone. ??? I have yet to install them.

the secret weapon for emg 81's is the emg spc control.

The EMG 81 also sounds better without a traditional tone control. Then again, what pickup doesn't? But the regular EMG's gain a 3dB boost.

I’m really diggin the “Het Set” from EMG. They really do have some aggressive tone…like a hybrid with the passive and active vibes. Rich harmonics and all!
