Didn't they force him into using the offset cabs chassis layout or what that Dave's call?

I thought it was more about calling the amps "Marsha"

I like this guy's vids. It helps that he is a kickass player too though. As a few have already said, I also find Dave's BE line or inspired amps to be a bit too compressed or soft in the mids for my liking but you either love his stuff or it isn't for you. I like the small box the best from the tones I have heard but like a good ol Plexi or 2204 just as much with a few tweaks or just an OD pedal. Those will always bring the goods. I also never have 3k american that I could justify spending on any amp. I might buy a few if i was loaded though... shits n giggles sort of thing.

Just got mine on Monday night. Matching BE-212 came in yesterday.
I’ll post up something soon.
What an amp! Holy cow does it sound great in person!

I am really happy with the amp and the features on it.

Did it cost you 1/4 of your mortgage to get that here into Canada?!!

Not too bad at all. We worked out a deal on the declared value. ;)

It’s a great amp. Some folks question as to the cost but in the end, I have always wanted a Friedman. As I said previously, I had a BE-100 back in June that was brand new but went south for whatever reason after 4 uses. The store I purchased it from (idiots!), never made much effort to offer to fix it. I probably should have just called Dave but they said they would handle it. They changed the tubes and it still popped. I’m wondering if they knew there was something wrong with it and sold it to me regardless. I wasn’t in a position to wait as I had sold my other amp to a friend and I had several weekend gigs coming up. However, I Still could not get that beautiful tone out of my head. One can say what they want about the cost but when you hear this thing in the room with the cab, it really is beautiful sounding. I’ve had some really great amps over the past years and I really truly like this one the most. It’s a smaller headshell as well, and about 10-15lbs lighter which is a bonus. Those two extra controls for the low and high response are amazing!

Not a good demo...

Yeah, but the OP said he is a killer producer and knows how to get great guitars tone :dunno: Also, it’s an official video meaning that the company felt this was an accurate representation of the amps tone. The clean was cool and the low gain wasn’t bad either. The higher gain low end buzzing was terrible. Who knows, maybe people like that low end buzz?

Yeah, I'm thinking the same thing. Clean and low gain were great. High gain, not so much. And this is a pro demo....
Whatever.... it seems at this point there are a million different versions of Friedman BE out there that all sound a little different. I'm not finding fault with Dave for trying to respond to people's requests and perceived shortcomings of the different versions, but I'm starting to wonder if all this tinkering with the BE recipe is reaching the point of diminishing returns. While all the versions do have their own special mojo, it's hard to say that any one sounds better than the other. Different yes, but not necessarily better.

Yet another valid point. How many more versions/tweaks till everyone is happy? If ever.

^^^^ Bingo

I was more a fan of the isolated guitar portion than the full mix for sure. With that said no one ever seems to be 100% happy with amp demo tones. I am just glad there are some vids of this guy coming out.

I feel the same Jer.

I can’t seem to coax this so called buzzing out of either version.

LOL! I wanna hang out at YOUR house!

So, between the 50 and 100 if you ad to go with one, which would it be? I am buying one of these for sure in January.

I don't hear the buzzing in the demo. I'm not saying it doesn't exist as I probably just don't have the best of ears. Perhaps it has more to do with the mic and cab setup. I know Michael uses an isolation setup where his cabs are in a treated room...not in the room he is recording the video. Perhaps it has something to do with that.

I’m pretty much a 100w guy but the BE50 sounds damn good and there’s no missing any of the umph that a 100W amp usually provides. I do prefer the slight revoicing of the BE50 though. The mids are not as dark which I know was a complaint from a lot of guys. They’re more toward classic Marshall mids and the hi’s have a bit more zing to them which makes the amp sound more aggressive. And the HBE channel really rips now. Notes bloom like crazy which makes it really fun to play. This is by far the best version of the BE yet IMO. I guess all that means is I must really like buzzy low end. :D

That's because the so called buzzing sounds like something other than the amp itself. He started playing the low E open when it began. Could be a rattling sound emanating from the guitar, cab, or something else in the room. I have no doubt that amp would kill in the room, just like any other Friedman. And if there is something wrong with a Friedman, you can return it for another one, instead of having to ship it back to some shady scumbag who may never even return it....

Do you own those amps?
So you don’t hear the buzz I can the bottom end in the official demo around the 8:10 mark?

Sure, I can hear it. That whole part sounds pretty crappy. I can set my amp to those exact setting and it sounds buzz free so who knows how that was happening.

I think it is something in the post processing or maybe too damn hot of a signal going to the DAW. Who knows. The bottom end is pretty woofy in places but having played many a few Friedman and having owned the PT and now DS40, I will still take what I know to be true about them and say in your own hands it'll sound stellar.

Also, I will concur with Chad, Michael generally gets some bad ass tones. Dude has some damn chops too.
