Ugh……
So much of this info is available for the public at this point. You ever bother reading any of their books? Syd came up with the name, BTW.
The lights, mixing desks, everything from Britannia Row, etc, all of it was purchased under the Floyd business, which Roger was no more a part of than Rick, Nick or Syd and then Gilmour. It was all developed to put on Pink Floyd shows in the 70’s, not Roger Waters shows. They sold most of that shit off to recoup their losses from The Wall, which Gilmour and Mason also had to pay for.
As for Waters, the dude wrote some lyrics and the bones of songs, as evident by the demos, none of which a single one sounds like Pink Fucking Floyd until the members of Pink Floyd played on them and that goes for Gilmour just the same.
As a devout Gilmour fanboy, I’ll even say that MTLOR and TDB (which I have tattooed on my forearm) don’t sound or feel like ‘Floyd’ to me in the sense of 70’s Floyd and they’d be better off as Gilmour solo albums.
That said, Gilmour has never tried to portray himself as someone he isn’t, he’s been the first to admit he can’t write lyrics for shit and he does far better at coming up with bits of music and having someone else organize/arrange it for him, which is how all his albums have been written and recorded.
More to the point, Gilmour’s not even that fond of being attached to Floyd as much as many fans would like to think, he’s said since the early 90’s he wished he could just tour like Clapton does with a new band and different music, but people just want to hear him play Floyd tunes.
