If you are already comfortable with the idea of spending a decent amount of money on a pick that will last you forever... definitely check out Patrick Hufschmid's picks... they are all 100% handmade from materials that I can't even pronounce... I've been using one of his "drop" style picks for forever... and I swear it hasn't worn down at ALL... really impressive stuff... you'll thank me later if you are into the thicker pick styles...

I heard that he makes really quality stuff. I have to order one. Thanks for the heads up.

I have no interest in trying every big dollar pick on the market, but the thing that surprises me about the situation is the amount of people belly-aching about a $20 pick when they own $60k worth of gear.
Exactly, just like when they own a $20k rig and run a cheap ass $10 cable.
Picks do contribute to tone, but most importantly for me, it facilitates my right hand technique.
Also, I'm not in any way saying expensive picks are better. I was using picks that are available in stores for nearly 20 years, like Fender extra heavies, Big Stubby and Dunlop Primetone. But it just so happens that stuff like V-Picks and Picks & Stones just work better for my style of playing.

I recently started using both Gravity and V-Picks in 1.5mm. I like the larger triangle shapes. I'm still getting used to the feel; however, it is amazing how much better they make everything sound. No snake oil and well worth the money to me.
I've been using Gravity pics for more than a year now. I love them. They make me a better player...worth the $$$

I use Red Bear "Lil' Jazzer" picks w/Grip Holes. Do the prices seem excessive....YES. Did I feel like an idiot shelling out $20 for a single pick....YES. Even still, they are all I use now and I've been very happy with them. After purchasing one, I got two more. What I love about them, is that they sound great, feel great, and last longer than any pick I've ever had....they don't really seem to wear much at all. And, maybe it's all in my head, but I seem to even play better with them. Were they worth the money....hard to say they would be for most, but they've definitely worked for me.....so for me, yes they are. Besides, with all the money I've wasted on gear and lost on resale value of gear....what's another $20? I still haven't tried any of the other high end picks though.
