Sharkies = Jackson

If it had sharkfin inlays the Charvel guys would all stand in line to smack him. :gethim:

Charvel Model 6 and the 475 Pointy and had Sharkies ;)

And if you mention either of those as Charvels on one of the Charvel forums you will be in for a tongue lashing. I had to use those words cuz it's a Barzini thread ;)

Cool!

Me too... Traded an Ibanez for this:

Steve
Is that from the controversial "Solar" run? Beautiful guitar
Yup. I know there was a lot of crap that went on about that run. Can you summarize the issues? This one plays and sound killer - does not seem to have any issues/poor workmanship that I can see... maybe the issues were corrected on this one, who knows?

It is #3 of 10 of that run...

Steve
I don't think it was QC issues on this run as much as FMIC simply didn't nail the run as spec'd after ALOT of back-and-forth with the Custom Shop. I know the neck shape was widely considered to be "wrong" for whatever that's worth. There was some issue with the finish lifting off the headstock but this wasn't exclusive to this run (saw it a lot in the "Dweezil" run and many of the reissue pointies). That #3 I believe has been through several owners and may have originally been Chuck's (Bloodsplatter)...he's probably the most qualified to explain the issues with that run.

I played Tracy's a few years back and thought it was a great guitar. Seeing as Charvel necks varied widely (moreso with stratheads but pointies too) back in the day, I still have to laugh when people talk about a "classic Charvel neck profile"...no such thing IMO.

I'm no expert but I think most of the pointy era charvels had Jackson logos under the charvel logo on the headstock or had Jackson labeled parts whether it was pickups, trems or tuners.

The pointy San Dimas era Charvels did not have Jackson logos underneath...during this period there weren't many bolt on Jacksons. Once Charvel became the "cheap" brand for Jackson (MIJ Model Series guitars), they did indeed begin at some point (in '87 IIRC) to use Jackson hardware (high end Jacksons used this as well). Jackson bolt-on models (Dinky and Strat) then took the place of the Charvels that most of us old-timers fell in love with back in the day...in fact some of the last "Charvels" from '86 had Charvel neck plates but Jackson headstock logos. Prior to that Charvel was a premium brand custom made instrument that used top-notch components.

Talk about nailing the reissue vibe. Tons of the original pointy head San Dimas Charvels did the same thing. This might be carrying the reissue guitar accuracy a little too far. :D

I'm lucky with this one - the finish on the headstock is intact and the guitar is 5 years old...

I'm not really a Charvel "purist" myself, but the neck pretty much feels similar to the pointys I played in the 80s... I dig the guitar, it sounds and plays great...

This would be a 2005. I believe these were custom shop made? They sure feel like a custom shop guitar compared to some of the pro mods I have had.

Yes, they are Custom Shop and had a $2500 price tag when they were first released.

What year is this from? Is it a newer CS?

Correct, it is a custom shop guitar

Edit: I see Chubtone beat me to it

I officially hate you.

Where did you find the retard who would rather have an Ibeenhad than this?[/quote]

Hi, retard here. You realize the internet is public, right? And to correct the lineage, it was owned by two other people, not "several"....Hi Rupe!

I think I will get by with the Ibanez, and the other "few" Charvels I have around. The Ibanez is a blast to play, and impeccable.

Nice group :)
And I`d rock that Ibanez any day. It`s very.....yellow..., but I`d rock it still :D

1) Learn how to do quotes.
2)  Means "this is a joke"
3) If you think I was taking a shot at you personally, or that I even know you or care who you are, you really need to get over yourself.

Have a nice day.

It is certainly yellow! But, compared to some of my Charvels, it's downright tame.......

I have posted this elsewhere, but I have never seen a guitar as finely detailed and finshed as this J-custom. The fretwork is art. I am on the fence about the pups, never met a Dimarzio I liked, but other than that, its a forever guitar. And I cannot for the life of me figure out why anyone who likes trems wouldnt like this Edge Zero. I think it's badass.

So, what your saying is, you can joke about me being retarded, which I assumed you were, since as you said, you dont know or care who I am, but I am not allowed to joke back. And when I do, you respond by getting defensive, offering posting/internet lingo advice, and telling me to get over myself. I am a bit hurt by the "not caring" part. I care about everybody.

Makes total sense.

BTW, my daughters hamster is retarded, so go easy on the stereotype language.
