Surely the logical approach to making the associated video clips would be to mime them?
Every damned geetar artist does this no matter the audio-production method used 'cause fans expect to see the artist "playing" the song, and rightly-so.

Could it be that y'all's calling him a fraud doesn't take this into account?

Other Devils Advocate response:

Do you call it a live take and make money off the miming? What about sponsors that get embarrassed and take a reputation hit when you show up and can't play, should they get reimbursed over the controversy? If you saved $300 to go to a Van Halen concert and found out the hard way he mimed everything and couldn't play live would you feel robbed?

Everyone (mostly) does do it but even if you can play I think you owe it to be prepared when people spend money to watch you perform. This is false advertising and it does hurt other people

He's making money and advertising himself as one of the best GUITAR PLAYERS in the world. If instead he marketed himself as one of the best composers or arrangers and he was selling DAW plugins and guitar pro skins it would be a different story.
