If Lundgren M series pickups are considered extremely hot.. Why shouldn't i lower them?

So i have experimented with these pickups. The normal height is 2mm. Which blows my mind, considering how hot they are. They just sound too aggressive that high. I even have to pick more softly in clean tone to not experience clipping. I have found 5.5mm to be the sweet spot for me. (maybe my hard picking is already aggressive enough and it works for me) Now hold on before you go that's too low are you kidding me. Hear me out.. I'm getting high quality mid gain tone and superb clean tone, also the dynamics feel like another dimension. This is the best sounding guitar i have had, and i own a couple of high dollar guitars

No one is going to arrest you for your pickup height.

Women are very concerned about the number on the scale. But a man doesn't give a fuck what that number says. He will know if he wants to fuck her

OK time to be serious:

I'm tippin' the normal recommended height is based on averages. If you pick way-harder than "average", the lowering makes total sense IMHO.

I wouldn't sweat it. Gettin' better tones? It's a no-brainer man.

I haven't measured pickup height in years. I just tweak the bridge to where it sounds the best and then flick the switch back and forth until both pickups sound the same volume. I recently adjusted all my guitars to have the pickups the same by switching back and forth and leveling everything out. Granted, they all have the same pickups in them, so they all have the same output. I got them all wired up the same, and now they are all interchangeable.

Just go with what sounds right. That's how this whole "music" thing works.

There are no rules. Let your ears decide. If you think it is good then it is good.

@RockyStar Brother Rocky!

Long time no see my man. Hope all is good. :cheers2:

This!
I start with the bridge pu about 3 or 4 mm away, and go up or down a half turn at a time until I get what I want, then do the neck pu to match the bridge for output and complementary tone.
Some pickups need to be jammed up against the strings, some need space.
There are so many variables to pickup construction that there are no hard and fast rules for this.
You just have to listen.
