Well the company is named "Faustine"!  On a serious note, maybe he has plans to make it right before he shuts down his operation completely...let's hope. Dang, looks like I'll be getting a Rivera Rockcrusher or a Cameron Attenuator.
I held out for as long as I could but filed a claim, and I suspect the few remaining that used a CC has done the same. I'm not sure the guy can "make it right". If he's out of money and can't get any more, he's done.

Maybe the guy will send put out a wiring diagram and parts list and we can build our own.

the kicker is his wife was still soliciting orders and promising delivery dates up intill just 2 weeks ago even though they knew that there was no chance at anything being delivered. I saw the writing on the wall over a year ago but was bashed for pointing out the obvious. Call your credit card company before its too late! Maybe those who vouched for these scammers will chip in and help refund some dough to those who got ripped????

anyone who ordered one of these as recently as 2 weeks ago wanted to get scammed.
guys have paid in full a year ago and got the "2 more weeks" shuffle months on end. i don't care if the thing massaged my feet printed money and made me fountain of youth mai tais $1000 for an attenuator is just beyond insane to me.

maybe brad can salvage this one too and rock a faustine/cameron attenuator!

I believe you only have 90 days to file a CC claim for chargeback.

It depends, I was able to do a chargeback around a year after purchase in one instance where I was being strung along.

He might be elevated to god status. That's what happens to some builders who rip people off over and over around here.

How long before the Phantom goes from being one of the best attenuators to the absolute holy grail that nothing else can touch and is easily worth the $2500 asking price on the used market?
Yesterday.

Im not sure if youre joking Pat but the idea isnt a bad one. Especially since its got some big names behind it on the site.
If this thing is as good as its cracked up to be, someone should buy the guy out for a song and a dance and run with it...

So crazy and true often. I don't get it, and stuff like this makes me always scared to do business with the smaller guys you know. Last time I did it was with Ear Candy, and while I did finally get my cab and like it, it was months after promised and for me, on a budget, needed it when it was promised and could not have a backup plan as I spent my hard earned money. I will no longer buy anything from a company unless they appear to have their crap down. Once I see something about delays because of this or that, signals trouble at least to me... And I so think it stinks that some of these people who really should be in jail are heralded as hero's, as you point out

Heck yeah man; if Brad could do it and bring the price of that thing back down into the stratosphere, I'd buy one.

I'm not really sure the price is unreasonable for its features. Small footprint, really good transparent attenuation (if the clips are legit), a transformer line out before or after attenuation, multiple ohms, polarity shift, and simulated speaker out that (with variable control) didn't sound bad at all...and looks cool.

Palmer units are $700 or so dollars, but not an attenuator. Aracom is about that price but no speaker emulation or transformer line out. You can certainly get simpler function units cheaper that perform very well, but as a package I'm not sure anyone offers what the Phantom does. It is (was) a one stop solution for attenuation, wet/dry rigs, or direct recording.

In the end, it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it, which seems to be a lot. I'm a tight ass and was willing to do it just because of it's performance and feature set. I hope someone picks up the gauntlet and runs with it. It's just too cool a product to disappear.

I generally don't care for attenuators, but I was a TM a couple of years ago when Jim was comparing the Faustine and the Alex...sound wise, both were great; very similar. Don't know about the features of each, but sound wise, they were neck and neck.

FWIW, I think Mark's is every bit as good.

I have an Alex. Can't beat it for a single purpose attenuator for the price. The clips I have heard of the two at high attenuation I gave the Phantom the nod. Like I said though, assuming the clips are legit. The line out is ok, but just a resistive line out, I believe. Squashes the highs and lows a bit, and not as open. Nor is it multiple ohms nor does it have a simulated speaker out. Perhaps many don't want all that in which case the Alex is perfectly adequate.

I am skeptical of the Cameron attenuator competing in transparency against the Alex or Phantom. Time will tell, but in the end resistive attenuators affect the tone and feel greater than reactive attenuators as simply a matter of physics.

I'm no expert, but you might be surprised at Mark's; I don't understand the mechanics, but the one I tried was really good (for an attenuator)

I too have had a similar thing happen. As long as you have all your communications and notes on what transpired over the time period. The credit card companies look at this as a fraudulent transaction. Thank gawd it was only $1000.

wonder how many people are out 1K?

is it too much to assume 50 people pre-ordered?

50k is a bunch of moolah to go poof-
