At this stage I'd go for a thinline tele before a strat. They all sound good but a 335 and a Twin is pretty much the blues players rig of choice. Easy bending, sustain, rich lead tones with ease. Even Buddy sounded tops on a 335 JMHO.

If they made slightly beefier versions of these closer to a standard tennis shoe, I'd probably get a pair for work, managing a bread route. It's a lot of walking, squatting, pushing/pulling stacks of bread.
These have a beefy sole, and they are the medium thickness. They make some with less "ground feel". I love these ones more than my other pair for that reason. I can walk on sharp gravel or Legos with these.

Well, I should clarify. They help to weed out the "wrong" chicks. Only the right chicks will dig them.
