Reviving this thread because of the one for sale in the classifieds which made me check out the amps.... damn his amp sounds good! I know many people will disagree with me but this amp sounds better than a BE or Helios to my ear. I also hear less of the bass thing going (like I hear with a splawn) and more focus in the mids. I dig it!

I have A/B the G3 with the QR and they share a lot of similarities. I'd played several incarnations of the BE and yes the G3 sounds better. The G3 sounds like every 80's hard rock and metal album you've ever heard. The G3 is way more percussive than both amps. The QR had more range of gain and pissed off marshall snarl. The G3 does the Soldano clarity/ string separation with the Marshall voicing. The G3 had the best clean channel of the three amps with the BE close behind. I haven't played the diode clipping of the G3 but the videos sound incredible. I'd say the the QR and BE are more modern Marshall voiced with the G3 slightly vintage sounding.

I hope this helps.

Definitely, i'll keep this amp on the radar for sure. Clarity without the over the top brittleness of a lot of 800's when boosted at low volume. So am I right in that the QR has more bass than the G3? I swear I hear strong highs but also bass with the QR.

You are right the QR has more low end than the G3. It's a rocking amp though and a lot of fun to play.
