Why not take one of Mike's, Dave's, or Marks mods and build it into a production amp? We may never know
Although I would say the JVM was a viable attempt at building a fire-breather for them, it has a TON of gain on tap in the orange and red modes, and being able to switch between the modes is pretty cool. It was something the DSL guys wanted for a long time. Some of them made the switching-between-modes thing themselves, with great results
I guess you're right about the JVM being a sort of Kitchen Sink type affair but it doesn't quite have the vibe of the boutique gear. It feels more like a response to the triple rec style of amp. But the more I think about it, the more it baffles me why they don't have a boutique division. They have the handwired series, why not put something in there. Seemples!
