Sounds OK to me as well, but it seems a bit muted. That could be how it was recorded, though.

I take back what I said about the transformer.... for 1899 I'm getting one!

I thought the brief time he played on low power sounded much better and articulate..

 Really, sounded more dead to me and had less highs and aggression on the low power mode. I will say on the 2553 I have the power switch totally kills the tone. Overall it sounded like the demo was the amp at low volume.

The key with mine if you can't crank it is to crank the output master and dial in the volume with the channel control.

For that price you could get a decent condition actual one though....

I thought the demos sound OK, not great not bad.... but I bet these are prototype models, and the production line will have junk components like the AFD...

And they're doing another Slash sig amp? What is it?

And I did know Slash uses the Jub for cleans now.... but I thought he was using AFD prototypes for his dirty sound? When did modded 2203X's start?

I played the AFD and it sounded awesome. The power attenuator also worked great. Whether it's made of "junk components," I must question since there have been plenty of amps that are considered legendary or superior today which used what might have been considered junk components then. There have been so many modded Jubilees and used ones played with old or new speakers, etc... it's pretty much bullshit to say at this point whether it sounds authentic or not. The amp and cab he was using could have been fresh off of the assembly line, and he might have not even let the amp warm up much before playing, or the speakers weren't broken in, etc... At this point, I like the idea and want one based on what Marshall published.

A guy on TGP got this from Marshall

"Below is a copy of a post made by Marshall's very own Santiago Alvarez concerning the new Jubilee and Nick Bowcott's comments about the "emulated" circuit.

Hi, unfortunately that was a very bad choice of words by Nick. There is nothing being emulated in the amp and there are no "modern construction techniques". The amplifier is pcb like the originals were although of course the pcb has been updated into a double sided one, with DC heaters and we corrected an issue with flickering relays that the originals had.

The amplifier is built in the same style of other UK Marshall amp with that type of conduction(AFD, YJM, VM, YJM...) and we also upgraded internal connectors, used cloth covered wires and a few other improvements which will become standard in new Marshalls.

The mains and impedance selectors were removed as they are becoming difficult to find and difficult if not impossible to get them pass modern safety standards.

We also added external bias points with two trimmers, one per push pull side.

Hope this clarifies the issues."

:)

I think it's neat that people will have a better chance to own one now. But that amp doesn't even come close to sounding like the 25/50 that I owned! Marshall never goes all the way with the reissues. Why can't they just copy them with true authenticity? I don't get it? People beg them for historical amp models and they only get part of the way. I am not trying to offend anyone, just another crazy opinion.

Maybe a beat 2555 for that...mint 2555s can go for 3k or so....50 watters can be had for that price. 1899? For a new 2555? Im in! That NAMM demo sounded killer as well! Better than the Chris George one...

1. It won't matter... Tan pants gotta have it! As long as the tolex is silver and the logo reads "Marshall", that's good enough for posting pics. The remaining idiots will send them off for modifications, of-course.
2. Marshall cannot duplicate the components of old, because of the Al Gore/Price Albert conceived RoHS mandate. RoHS has forced manufacturers to remove any materials deemed unsafe to mother earth. Unfortunately, changing component composition also changes the sound formula of the original circuit.
3. Never be afraid to offend anyone.

Nice. I have no need for another amp, but I sure of miss my 2550.

I've had 4 jubes, all 50 watters. 2 2554s, a 2550 and 1 2553. Never had a 2555...but to me that NAMM demo sounded great...nice and fat. All the demos of the AFD sounded thin to me, and sounded thin in person. This is on my want list.

That's what I'm worried about here, the prototype AFD's actually sound quite good, you can hear Slash demoing one on YouTube. The production line..... not so much.

RoHS soldered, double-sided PCB's... No thanks!

If I were going to invest money into a new 100 watt amp, I would choose Wizard.

Well, most retailers have a return policy. If its thin, its going back. I've had a few modern production Marshalls that sound good...KK, VM, and I've played the new DSL....all 3 sounded fatter to me than the AFD I tried.

I am not a Wizard dealer, nor do I know if they sell an amp priced at $1899.00 USD. Why are you asking me?

Lol...wizards new are double the price of this Jubilee. Hell, used they are 3k or more. For that cash it better not be PCB...no doubt Wizards are great amps. But different price point clearly. For those of us who like a Jubilee tone this amp is exciting. Especially when an original 2555 will go for 3k and yes...it is also a dreaded PCB amp!

You're obviously attempting to make a point here, though I am baffled as to what it is, and why? Why do you keep railing about the price difference between a Wizard and a Marshall? :dunno:
