Well, the Jubilee arrived yesterday. So far, I am digging the amp. Sounds good through my EVH 412 and Friedman 212. I will need to work on IRs, as it doesn't seem to like either my TwoNotes Captor X or Suhr Reactive Load IR. Sounds muddy though both units. But in the room it is all the Marshall goodness I was hoping for.

Sometimes there's only one way to scratch that Marshall itch.......................... Congrats on the new Jubilee Day!:2thumbsup: I've been close to pulling the trigger on these many a time myself.:bash::doh:

Congrats! Which IRs are You using?
So far, I have tried the DynIR of my EVH cab that works great with my Stealth. And I have tried the stock IRs in the Suhr. Everything sounds overly dark and muddy.

Congrats! How's that thumb healing up?
Thanks! It's getting better every day. Though progress is not as fast as I would like. I am trying to use it as an excuse to correct some technique. So, that's some of the slowness... but I'm just blaming the thumb...lol!

Congrats man!

I have always loved the jube tones on the mid period bad religion albums, but I recently found out Jon Schafer used a jube (in addition to the 900) on his pre-larry albums which makes sense

Esp night of the stormrider

Hell yeah man, congrats on that. Killer friggin amp, just delivers the goods. Just crank it up and let her sing. I have never really used attenuators, but what boosts have you tried with it, if any?

It's not really about attenuating it. It's about being able to record it quietly. So, no cab, just IRs. So far I have tried an SD1, TS9, SoloDallas and an Archer. They all do cool stuff.

Same! Saw them at warped tour and the tone was crushing. Brian Baker is underrated. He even had sick ass tone when he was with Minor Threat.

Also nice to see someone else acknowledge someone other than Slash (y)

Welcome to the club @SFW The louder you crank that bitch, the better it sounds. Not a fan of scooping mids but with that amp its fun and you can get some viscous tones. It is smoother than most other Marshalls but it doesn't lack as much teeth as people make it out to be, at least IME.

I agree, I think it's more how people set them up and dial them in. If you max out the gain then yeah of course it's gonna be smoother sounding

But if you introduce some volume and get speakers moving it has plenty of teeth imo

BIG NAD CONGRATS!!! I have been buying Marshalls lately...JVM and DSL. Never thought I would be a Marshall guy, but it seems to be happening to a certain degree. The Silver J will likely be my next purchase. The tones that Gary Holt gets out of his boosted Jubilee are just vicious...yet toneful. Can you get it to sound reasonable at living room volumes?

I use york and bogren IRs with my Captor X and Jubilee. Sound great to me. The free Mesa 212 horizontal IR from York is excellent. I bought tge Freidman pack and it's pretty decent. Bogren has nice stuff for the heavies.
