I liked the jubilee boosted with no diodes. That is where it sounded best
Agreed, that is the way. The diodes sound like shit.I liked the jubilee boosted with no diodes. That is where it sounded best

Have y'all compared a Jubilee without diodes engages to a JCM800 2210? Would that be in the same ballpark, or totally different?Agreed, that is the way. The diodes sound like shit.
Never played a 2210, unfortunatelyHave y'all compared a Jubilee without diodes engages to a JCM800 2210? Would that be in the same ballpark, or totally different?
Correct.....many noobs don't understand this, and walk away disappointed, if they only turned the output master past 6, their balls would be swinging. That amp doesn't deliver the goods until about "6" on the master w/o a loadbox.
2210 if it's an 86 or later will have more gain than a Jubilee. Like an already boosted 2203. Jubilee will be darker as well; although still a Marshall and not a dark amp just darker than your typical 2203/4. Jubilee will have a touch more clarity/articulation though, more 'chime' if you will. If you're a Marshall guy a Jube is different enough to add one to your collection IMO.Have y'all compared a Jubilee without diodes engages to a JCM800 2210? I’ve never owned a 2210, but in comparison to my ‘79 2203 the Jube was thicker, darker, smoother, and with lower mids. The tone controls are much more active and there’s much more available bass.Have y'all compared a Jubilee without diodes engages to a JCM800 2210? This. At the end of the day, it's still an old Marshall, so it sounds best at 80's stage volume. I do run it into my loadbox at that level and it sounds great. You can hear the moment the power amp starts to distort, and that's the sweet spot. Set your gain at 6-7 and it's time to rock.Correct.....many noobs don't understand this, and walk away disappointed, if they only turned the output master past 6, their balls would be swinging.
Also, the beauty of the Jubilee is the fact that it has 3 controls that effect the output volume.
Depending how you run it, it can sound like a plexi, jcm 800, or modded 800. Plus has an awesome clean channel.
You can get great tones at low volume, but you need to learn the ways of the amp first.
Winning.
I still want to try out a 2210, every time one pops up on CL I force myself to ignore it.2210 if it's an 86 or later will have more gain than a Jubilee. Like an already boosted 2203. Mark sent me this video the other day. It sounds raunchy. You should pick up one of these while you are flirting with marshall varientsI still want to try out a 2210, every time one pops up on CL I force myself to ignore it.![]()
The Jubilee is still a darker amp than any 2203/4/2205/10/1959/1987 I've owned. Like you said, it's not a dark amp per se, but compared to other Marshalls it seems to be. And yes, the tone controls are VERY active and work better than any other Marshall made. They can still be set bright and cutting and the low end can rival some Mesas. You can have it dark....make it sound ike a Mesa, or you can set it very bright and cutting ( like Slash's settings for the jube). The tone knobs actually work on this amp.

I always dime my presence in 99% of my amps, with all the Jubilees I've had I also had to go to 5 or higher with my treble. Other Marshalls, my T rarely gets past 3. Jubilees also LOVE V30s too.
Great, great amps and over the years I must've had 10 or so...all this talk is making me want another.
