Michael Nielson agrees with me: the FTT Flight Time is the best delay pedal ever created

Reading further into this, this unit does NOT do the ducking delay thing but instead has some kind of unique ‘delay offset’ feature which sort of accomplishes something similar (getting the delay out of the way to minimize clashing).

Yes, it accomplishes the same thing, however, which is what makes it sound so pleasing and similar to the OG

That's my point, digital always leaves behind audible artifacts in the higher register, rendering those nice low od/edge of breakup tones harsher than they need to be which is why I've never kept any digital pedals, amazing as they might've otherwise been.
Are you wearing tan pants? That level of pedantry is impressive.

You need the pill, & no not the blue one. The pink one!

For my ducking junkie friends. :2thumbsup:

I’m using the Future Factory currently on tour, A/B’d to my rack 2290 and close enough for me, stereo panning modulated delays sound so good!

The future factory is great! If i needed stereo i'd be all over that, but I'm not doing gigs as big as you are Al 😝

Cool but that costs more than the OP pedal in question!
It’s a little ridiculous @ the price point yes. Go to Menu>Sidechain comp secrets> check out the guitar video. He wired a piezo mic to it for the trigger & ducking with his foot instead of the dry signal. Pretty wild. $200 seems more worth it.. Waiting for an abused one to show up on reverb.. lol

The fact that it costs even more than the Flight time/Future Factory is pretty disconcerting 😰 but I mean, it's within 10 feet of synth gear so I'm surprised it's not 4 thousand dollars

Is there anything currently made similar to the flight time (delay only) available in a rack format?

The eventide eclipse maybe? That's about all I could think of
Yeah but doesn’t that have a bunch of Harmonizer FX too? That’s probably what the bulk of it’s processing horsepower is allocated to. What about the TC D-Two rack unit? It’s over 20 years old and probably discontinued.

I think single effect rack units are a thing of the past. You are probably better off getting an Axe-Fx.

There's just not much rack gear available that's still being made. Basically, the Eventide H9000, Lexicon PCM96, and the Bricasti Model 7.

The Eclipse does have harmonizer effects, but it's processing power is spent on whatever algorithm you select, which could be just delays. It's plenty powerful enough and can do 2290-like delays. Just doesn't sound like a TC, pretty close, though. Was discontinued a couple of years ago, unfortunately.

The D-Two is nice, too, but long discontinued. It gets in the ballpark.

FWIW, the Flight Time is the closest I've heard to the tone of the 2290. The Future Factory has a better feature set, IMHO, but I wouldn't use a 2290 in mono, either even though it really is a mono delay with panning and phase inversion. If FTT would combine the two, they'd really have something.
