This seems rather flangey, in more ways than one........

In fact it sounds like Stryper's sizzling sound, but with the modulation.

Sounds like one of those little Gallien Krueger amps but with added gain and EQ.

Ah cool, thanks. I wonder what the modulation was? It sounds really over the top, almost soupy (despite being such a gainy, sizzling sound). Was the Yamaha SPX-90 around then, or only later in the 1980s?

it definitely has a "sales pitch" vibe going on.Ive seen them in 85" w/ mk III's, in 87 and 89 w/ quads and 400's, and 92 w/triaxis and sansamp rack, and Michael on his solo career w/ Joey Taffola on 2nd guitar, also @ Creation fest east w/ Dennis Cameron of Angelica and the the last 2 years now back as Stryper...Theyve never dissapointed...no matter what theyre using...

"Sales pitch" vibe? Do you mean the super-processed sound?

I've read that the reason why a lot of the 80s session guitarists processed their guitar sounds so much with the fridge-racks, was because that's what the producers wanted, or so the producer would take notice of them over all the heaps of synthesisers that dominated the sound mix.

Oh hang on! Sorry I've taken this thread off to a tangent- I guess you mean the original video at the start of this thread, Michael Sweet selling the Orange....damn I sound dumb... :(

500K is the "secret" Rockman frequency. Boost your 500K and you can make anything sound like a Rockman.
