Most disappointing amp

For me it was probably the Ampeg vh-140c. Just sounded thin to me and lacked power I thought (yes i know it's stereo 70 watts a side, i had two cabs) and the lack of a presence control made it impossible to dial in the highs the way I like them.

It wasn't a terrible amp, I was just expecting it to blow me away i guess?

Also never played a Wizard, but from the clips I've heard I'm gonna stay far away. They sound like they lack character for a lack of a better word. Kinda like Fryette. Just cold, sterile, lack of saturation etc...

What I find interesting is that, while many people sell their Rectifiers, very few people ever sell their Tremoverb. There must be something about the Tremoverb that is better than the Rectos.

Divided by 13 JJN 100. very bland and ear fatiguing take on a Marshall. Plus the owner of D13 is a douche nozzle!

Jim Wygle Puplexi. but in all fairness, it may have been faulty. It was has first one. I sent it back and he said the bias was drifting all over the place. He fixed it, then Lynch had it for a while.

Suhr PT 100. dull and boring sounding. A/b with OG Bradshaw OD 100 with Deyoung transformers which blew the PT away..

Someone posted a live clip of their wizard ages ago and I thought the same thing. Just sterile live and cold like it lacked body. Complete opposite of a cranked fender blues amp with body and singing character. The camera was far away too that it wasn’t due to distortion. I wrote it off as recording error and no one else mentioned it so I kept my opinion to myself.

Lack of saturation, yes. Saturation is one thing I hate in amps. Lack character, nope.

When the zombies are about to break through, it’s a Mesa 2x12 combo stacked on top of a 5150 combo at that door if you want to survive. Nothing will ever be able to breach that.

Experienced the same with the /13 and the Suhr. Was a great example of beware of vid clips because I had heard an amazing clip of the JJN and decent ones of the PT100.

I have seen people get legit mad because someone said they don't like an amp they have...and the more expensive and special they consider it, the more the anger rises. It's pretty funny if you think about it. "You not liking these wires, parts and tubes that I think are the best offends me! My amp defines me as a human being, how dare you!"

Yea, I don’t get it. Like the modeling fellas that get RAGING mad if you say that their clips don’t sound just like the real amp

What this thread has taught me is that there are no good amps outside of a gorilla tube cruncher.
