Jeeeez man, that's one hell of a NAD! Love me some Engl!

Hell fire and I just finished going off in the other thread about the dual Eganter day... This is another moment of true epic-ness.

Engls no less :student:

Ritchie Blackmore would be proud

Whoa...that's alot of new amp. I guess this means it's ok for me to order 2 more Diezels...
Late model VH4 in while tolex, and the new D-Moll by chance :D

 Awesome new amp day.

I'm getting SE GAS again, but I really need some time with the Savage too. Not sure why you needed the FB100 though when you got the other two though..... my guess is that it will be getting returned to wherever the UL and FB cab went.

And it still cracks me up to see you with all those ENGLs.

I think you need a new SE EL34 & Savage 120. You can't just be happy with the same two amps for this long. :poke: :D

The FB has the 6L6GC voicing and the big, dark, chunky low-end. Great for down-tuned rhythms. Just a different flavor. All 3 do indeed sound pretty different. Even my gf was like, "oh, even I can hear the difference between them... so this is why you got 3 of em!"

The UL was really close to perfect, but I kept wanting a little more saturation, even after adding an od pedal. Still a dam fine amp.

I'd do it.

Out of the Savage and the SE which would you say does classic rock the best. Raw classic rock that is. For eg. 70's AC/DC or something like Black Betty.....

...or maybe this would be the Retro 100.

Man....talk about a lot of heat with those three beauties on!

Awesome amps! Congrats!

:)

Skoora, I'd say from the specs, the SE would do more classic tones as well as the modern tones compared to the Savage.

I was considering the E570 (the preamp is the same as the SE E670), it has both classic and modern settings. I think I've settled on the E530 (modern settings only) as I have a Triaxis now for more classic tones. I've been researching this for weeks. (GAS is time consuming! I never thought it would be Engl GAS for me though! I'm a Vox guy. )

If you only want classic tones, go Retro.

IMO, the SE E670 EL34 is the way to go for a head.

The manual is worth a thorough read...though it could be a bit clearer IMO.

Hopefully some owners of all of the above will chime in to keep the record straight.

YMMV

I'm still in shock & awe from the OP. Wizard of Ozz has raised the bar IMO.

Seems logical enough to me.

Yeah. I've had the Nitro since Oct '10 and the CCV since Sept '11 - other than that I think it's only been a JVM, 6505+ and the Axe Ultra/II. My buddy left his Mesa Triple Reborn at my house. I'm loving it, but man it has to be loud. When it is, it sounds so good that I don't like my Nitro anymore. lol. I'm half tempted to sell the Nitro and get a Mesa. Not sure I want to spend a ton to get another SE and I'm not really into buying used anymore.

They both can cover those tones. I'd lean maybe slightly towards the Savage for those tones, but if you like more of a crunchy aggressive Marshall mid-tone, go for the SE EL34.

I hear you about buying used. I'll only do it on very rare occasions now. Too many possible "issues" to deal with.

It was down to the Engls or Diezels... and the compression and different mid-voicing on the Diezels didn't do it for me. I think you need another SE. Too long of a dry spell for you Matt
:D

That is one hell of an amp day. The savage kills...
How you like it compared to the Herbie?
I actually liked the Savage slightly better...... ;)

The savage totaly kills very awesome and vesitle amp with great and underrated clean channel. The herbert just has something about it I cant thoughly explain every time I fire it up it makes me grin like a school girl at a justin bieber concert. ;) I am running them both in sterio and holy shit man that is one hell of a mind fuck...

Damn...you don't mess around

The Savage 120 is one of the finest metal amps that I've ever used. In fact, although you don't hear about it much, it can do a lot more than metal.

Congrats I guess. Im not sure Ill ever understand why anyone would need any of that unless they were a regularly gigging musician and even then it would seem like a stretch. Please dont think that Im trying to rain on your parade or shit on your shoes, that isnt the case...

With my JVM and a handful of FX and EQ, I can get practically any tone under the sun with the exception of that really pristine Blackface Fender style of chimey clean.

This is one of those scenarios that Im just never going to understand but bottomline is that I dont have to; buy and play whatever you want, to each their own..

There is no law saying you're not allowed to own and enjoy X number of amps. Why did he do it?

Because he fucking can

 Im fairly certain that I never said anything that resembled amp buying doctrine. I was just looking for some insight into the mindset behind it . In this case, the law of diminishing returns comes to mind.

BTW, I can as well, I just cant see the point or make sense of it but then again, I used to have alot of stuff around and now Ive gone to a place where If Im not using it, I dont want it around and I couldnt be happier..

Had to bring this one back. So, which ones do you still own and how do they stack up now?? Major Fireball100 and Retro gas right now...
