There is a certain way you set those dip switches and it will do the jose thing. Had one 20 years ago don't remember what the setting is. The amp is based off a jose from some 80`s rock dudes marshall
Brian Jay of Keel was the 80’s rock dude, it’s already a Jose.

Correct. Peavey Butcher is more of a JCM800 with 6L6 power section. VTM is the pre-modded deal.

This. The Butcher is way closer to a stock 800 than the VTM

VTM = Vacuum Tube Modified

Boosted, it can get as heavy as anyone could ever want, particularly with the Comp and gain dip switches toggled. My rec would be to play with each dip switch (at volume, BTW) to see what each one does, then start playing with the combos. That amp just has so much to offer. I miss mine but have three heads at this point and have no need nor space for more.

I did not need this amp !
I just wanted to try it.
I'm happy with it !
For me I don't even need to boost it.
It does what I want without a boost in front.

Vtm 120 was my first tube amp, bought one for 120$ at a pawn shop long ago, I’d really like to own one again. What’s the going rate for these today? I rarely see them fs.

I got one a couple months ago for $300 that was in immaculate shape. Ended up selling due to my 2x12 finishing up sooner than expected. I bought my first one for $150. They seem to be going up a tad in value

Roger Crimm from Peavey once said on the Peavey forum that if you turn off all of the dip switches on a VTM 120 you essentially have a Butcher with an effects loop.

James Brown used to post here and it would be great to hear from him. He knows better than anyone when it comes to the Butcher/VTM lineage.

So what are your plans for the headshell?
Burn it ?
No just kidding.
I don't need it do you ?
The thing is a freaking tank !
I will get some 3/4 birch and make a new one .
Maybe a cool color ?

I bought a vtm cab with g85k 16 ohm today.
I also just tried 2 evh 8ohm and 2 creamback 75 8ohm in acarvin cab.
They sound great !

Yeah. Sorry. I meant what are you going to do about a new shell. Make one? Cool.

Peavey 5150/6505 headshells are a direct swap and weigh a ton less just FYI.

I could not find one.

I have one. Best cab for 200 or less you'll ever find. Not as resonant as a Marshall 1960, but a nice cab nonetheless. Made the same way the VTM head shell is....I'd bet it would fossilize if buried instead of breaking down. lol

Call Peavey for a new one.

Peavey wont sell headshells anymore. I tried that when I got my last VTM. Zilla will build them or you can occasionally find them pop up on Ebay or Reverb.

Not sure if Sourmash, Mojotone, or Splawn would fit but if you want to get the measurements and send it to them Im sure they will let you know.

Zilla will definitely do it though and they have gorgeous looking cabs and headshells.

You could also wait until you see a non functioning peavey and scoop it up relatively cheap.

Thanks for the heads up !
Although it would be easier to buy one.
I will just build one.

I just saw the Peavey VTM60 I sold a few months back pop up on craigslist for $550. I sold it for $300. I would have bought it back if it was $350.

Was watching a Whitesnake doc on the making of "Slip Of The Tongue" and Adrian has three VTMs in a rack in a few shots of the video.
