Tighter than a gnat's ass :rawk:

I too liked it better with the gain dialed back a bit - seemed to open up more? Good to know it can get that tight though. Hella tight.

Congrats

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to make a post here showing my new amp. I had to deliberate for quite awhile on what to get. I wanted something super tight, high quality and modern.

I went with the Hermansson 5 Gain Stage Metal Mod in a Marshall 1959 SLP. I haven't received the amp yet and I am very excited. Henric has been absolutely awesome to communicate with, and just from the short emails we have had I would recommend him to anyone looking for a new amp. He has been giving me updates as he goes. I will update this thread as progress is made, and will try to make some sound clips.

Here are some pics of the build progress;

Congrats on the amp man!!! That thing sounds awesome!
I know I should not say this, since I do want one of his amp mods, and the more orders he gets, the longer it will take for me to get one. But I do give credit where credit is deserved, and man, his stuff not only is built amazingly well, but it does sound unique and fucking amazing!!! Not to mention that Henric is an incredible to deal with.
Long live Hermansson!!

I also think too tight/dry.
Probably V30 are a better match.

+1. Its too far in that direction. I usually love Hermansson clips but I'm hearing a ton of white noise/hash riding under the palm muted notes.

Yeah man! I'm still going to own one of his mods!

Big thanks to all of you for your kind words! :)
This kind of sound is of course not everyone’s cup of tea, I understand that. I don’t consider myself as a metal guitarist myself, just making up these riffs to show the response of my amps and trying to move my right hand as fast as I can in the meantime
One of the things I’ve spent a lot of time developing over the years is the dynamic response, to be able to get a good clean sound by rolling back the volume on the guitar regardless of the amounts of gain.

I’m using standard tuning except for the low E which is dropped to D. I have over 200 videos of amps I’ve modded on my YouTube channel so it’s possible to find some different styles of sounds and playing there.

I really can't comment on the amp as the style being played sounds very similar on many amps.
It literally sounds like a chainsaw massacre or like blowflies in an empty Bud bottle.

What about a standard tuned guitar playing more straight ahead classic rock AFTER playing the above style so all parties know what the amp can do?

I agree the build quality looks good and the commitment is 100% there. The above tuning and style limits the seller greatly.
Looks like another TGP refugee.

BTW this is a specific build for the OP. Built to his needs. For a modern metal Marshall tone, it seems to hit the mark.

Yeah. He literally says in third the sentence that he wanted a tight, high quality, modern amp. People like to skip that stuff and go the video so they can find something they don't like about it. I don't get the whole 'let's poop on this guy's new amp' threads either. Seems to be all too common. Sometimes a simple 'Congrats' is all that is really needed.

As far as the builder goes, again I don't know too many people that can build/mod amps AND play well.

Thanks for the support guys. I bought this specifically to do fast, brutal, modern metal and I think it does this perfectly, but I totally get why not everyone would dig this sound it’s pretty specific

Honestly if you are doubting Hermansson stuff off these clips check out his other clips! Or better yet, even just talk to the guy. I’m sure he’s able to meet your wants/needs. Customer service has been incredible. This one is perfect for my needs. His mods are amazing, and if you want something for classic rock I’m sure he’s got you

Congratulations on the amp! While it is squeaky clean tight I could see it being used for many different styles of music and sounding good. You are getting a great amp back!
