Had both metal and cloth with an XTC for a while and kept going back and forth.
Cloth won cause it looks more classic. I'd use metal on an Uber though.
The chrome control panel (like in the OP) begs for the metal grill regardless the model.

Just the lip where the grill attaches to. Hit it with black marker and I think it looks great.
