I just think a lot of this is human nature. It’s hard to build something but it’s easy to tear it down.
I think we guitar players always look at other guitarist that have any success and shit on it because we think “we could do that” but we didn’t. It’s been like that forever. In the 80’s we’d look at someone like CC and poke at him, the 90’s we hated on grunge with no solos, then nu-metal, etc… YouTube is just a new vehicle running its course.

I’m not trying to call anyone out or anything like that. Bash away, it’s all part of people putting themselves out in the public square, they have to be able to handle it. I just see YouTube as a natural progression like past genres.

I am sure this is true for some. Jealousy has nothing to do with it. I don't want to be a youtuber. I would rather be working with my hands. Youtube feels whorish. My favorite youtubers never say dipshit things like, "Ring that bell."

The ones that were using it before it was monetized and continue doing things their way are the ones I respect. But I don't want to be them. I just want to watch them give lessons on songs I want to cover or how to mod this or rewire that.

I could never make money off Youtube, because at the end of the day, you are going to make some dumb video, "I need your help." Good fucking god. No offense, Ola. But that must make you feel a little fucking sick.

But I am not here to bash anyone. If you think of me as a 2d video game character. And you think of Youtube as the setting of the video game. Every time someone asks me to like something, makes a beta face, or says "Ring that Bell...." [Fuck my life], essentially my aggravation bar is going up. So when it hits max, I lose my shit. This is why Kyle is dead to me. Kyle really is no great loss. I did like him, but I have seen behind the curtain, and he handled criticism like a bitch.

But I have lost Youtubers I liked a lot more than him, and I still keep going. But the thing is, I don't start these hate threads. I comment on them because they are interesting and bring up genuine feelings I have. It isn't about shitting on guys...That is a byproduct of my expressing my disdain for their beta activity. And on the same token, I am not sorry, as I have clearly stated before:

I think it's just human nature to have a little bit of jealousy sometimes but the internet sure has spawned gaggles of "experts" and "I can do betters". I've never understood the bashing of guitar players that are fortunate enough to truly make a living at it (Kirk Hammett, anyone?). If you don't like their music or playing, fine. But the endless personal attacks on their success just shows nothing but lack of self esteem IMO.

Or it isnt an attack on their "success"

It is character. I really dont get when their boyfriends come out to defend them. This isnt complicated. I dont even see him as successful. I see him (kyle) as a sellout...it is like i am speaking another language..

I'm referring more to touring/recording guitar players, not someone like Kyle.

Really i agree with this a lot. When you write a song, sometimes your friends dont like it. Sometimes they want it to be more metal or something.

With bands, people get this hero worship and want all their albums to be like their favorite, but it is ok if a band wants to evolve. They are not there to please you if they are doing it right.

An artist should never care what someone will think of their work. They should do it for themselves, and if someone likes it great. If not, move on
