1963. Thank God that I dont look or act anywhere near my age but Id be lying if I said that thought of my next birthday didnt depress the hell out of me...

It really is just a number.

I used to think about why I don't feel like time has passed since my 30's. But it has. Lots of friends, family, favorite musicians aren't here anymore. Time has passed, and I'm enjoying it. Right here, right now.

Rock on with style.
Youre right but it gets discouraging. I still have strength, reflexes and general fitness but everything hurts from a lifetime of athletics/training and Lyme disease only exacerbates the situation. Its the not being able to operate at the physical levels that I used to that hits me the most. Its inevitable but its still a hard pill to swallow..

Kage, Im with ya... Its really startin to piss me off too.

+1 :aww:
be careful how you treat your body while your young, you may live longer than you ever expected to ;)

then again with obicare we may not live that long

Gainzilla, I too was born in 1963 and am NOT looking forward to next year's birthday. Something about hitting 50 that just ain't right.
I used to body build, could bench 510lb at one time. The body remembers the sins of youth and will pay you back....

I try to live the dream every day, life is a mindset, your age is largely irrelevant as long as you are "loving every minute of it." As guitar players we are in a good spot. Old guys are accepted in most types of music so as long as you want to play there should be a band to play in. That was not the case for the players from the 50's and 60's, they were relegated to the classic rock bands and ignored by the under 30 crowd.

'83.

and to whoever said kids born in the 80's didn't learn anything, if only you knew how little kids THESE days are learning. nearly all of my friends are teachers and their lesson plans are so completely dumbed down because kids don't have attention spans anymore it's not even funny (and whatever little attention span they do have is dominated by entertainment media - which has also fried much of their brain cells); and they STILL fail miserably. it's pathetic.
THIS.

ALL of my kids have skipped grades in school. And it's not that they are braniacs. They just seem advanced when compared to today's mind-numbed kids in America.

We don't have TV, and they get very limited use of electronic games. They play with legos, or spend time drawing, or (when they were younger), building with wooden blocks and then tinker toys. They spend a LOT of time outside, on the trampoline, canoeing in the lake, or running around playing football or other games with the other neighbor kids.

Basically, we raise our kids the way we were raised.
