Emg install help

I have a love/hate relationship with the EMG quick connects. They're easier, but make it significantly harder when you have limited space like in an Explorer, RRV, SG, etc.. I've started to just hardwire all my EMG installs. They wire up exactly like passives, EMG seems to purposely obfuscate info on old vs new stuff. You can multimeter out the pins on the back of the pot and figure out where everything needs to go and you can actually solder right on the back of those small pads that say "I/O" & "GND".


This one for instance was a MIJ Jackson RR. The input jack is way too far away and you can't use the quick connect. You have no real choice but to run a 2-Conductor wire and hard solder it. There's really not enough room in the cavity to splice on a quick connector to the output jack wire and quick connect it. You can see it tacked on to the I/O in the middle and the ground is just soldered to the side of the pot itself.

Full hard wire EMGs just looks and feels nicer:

Yeah sure, any pick-up.
It might vary if you go outside standard pot values, or have a lower-impedance amp input.
But standard setups - rule of 7.
Seymour Duncan Convertible is conveniently Vol 7 Tone 7 Input gain 7 Master 7.

I only have a SLO at the moment.

Pots are 500k iirc
