Quickrod or JVM?

Hey Kage,

Yes I did own a Quickrod and Nitro at one time, and a JVM 410H as well.

The Splawns were good amps. Well built, just not for me. I wouldn't mind trying one of the newer revised models they keep changing over time.

I was never a member of the Splawn Police though.

Cmon man, these are important details that make all the difference in the world. The CSI guys are slackin!!!

Solely from a quality/build perspective, I'd go QR. Tones are not miles apart.

Had a JVM210 and a QR. The JVM was a great sounding amp for sure - one of the best outta the box Marshall tones in a long time. The only gripe I have is that it seemed (to me) kind of cheaply built.

The QR was the most aggro amp I've ever had, and while it is stiff, once you throw some effects in the loop, it softens up a bit. Amazing Marshall-y tone, but a bit more pissed and not as compressed.

Given my choice, I would take the Splawn any day, if, for nothing else, the build quality. I sold the QR and got a Splawn Competition in it's place. It's just a bit less stiff. It has a slightly more compressed tone. In my eyes, it is about the perfect spot right on the middle of th QR and JVM, except that there is no clean channel. But who cares about that anyway?
