Big toe reduction surgery?
Removal of the toe knuckle and damaged bone. I have AS and it really went bezerk on my left big toe. Its been rough since about 2012. I finally had surgery. I continued to walk 5k a day minimum up to Thursday. Surgery was Friday. I am looking forward to walking again with less pain.

It also causes a lot of trouble with picking (the right hand and elbow). Some days I will play Mouth for War to warm them up. I am right handed and can't hold a pick like I used to. I've passed the time since Friday on RT. Thanks for all the posts. It is keeping me from realizing the bordom of recovery. I'm hoping to be able to sit up and play later today.

Thanks, is that a banjo style finger pick?
It is. Golden Gate GP-8. I have large thumbs and it fits pretty good right out of the box but you can also put them in hot water (not boiling) and then fit them to your thumb. I sucked with a flatpick my whole life, but learned some acoustic fingerpicking in Nashville TN and later it all came together and I started applying it to my electric and now that's all I use. Not sure how well it would do in the heavy music vein but the only thing I can't really do effectively in the blues genre is tremolo pick, but I haven't really practiced it either. I use the thumbpick in conjunction with a nickel silver National NP-2 fingerpick on my index. It might be worth a shot if you need some options to keep picking. Best-VBF

I had to soak these in hot water before I put them on ....... now I'm playing A minor Locrian licks with a flamenco flair ....
