Yeah I was doing some planning for possible early retirement. I'm not poor. Not even fucking close. But just the normal obvious steps I would take for tax optimization post-retirement would result in:
- Qualifying for SNAP
- Qualifying for massively discounted medical insurance
- My daughter automatically being enrolled in Medicaid
- Qualifying for utility assistance
Meanwhile I'd be living in a 4500sqft house, driving a nearly new F350 and supercharged Mustang, and generally living the high life.
It's really fucked up. On the one hand given the amount of tax I've paid over my life they should probably name a FHA building for me. So I'm not exactly pissed about getting a little of it back. But on the other hand it's remarkable I would qualify at all.
