Ok, sorry to derail.
I need some venture capitalists. We're going to make a paypal for musicians. Buyer pays all fees.

MUSICPAL.com

Main slogan "the seller is always right...."

I know you're joking Bill....but I really dig this and would use it. Most of the guys I know are stand up dudes just trying to sell a piece of gear to try something else. The fact that PayPal gives what basically amounts to a 6 month satisfaction warranty on USED GEAR is a fuckin joke.

I rarely sell anything anymore for that reason, and usually only to someone I've seen around forums, and I always ask for references and then check em, especially if it's a guy I don't see around at least every couple days. The guys that are here since 2009 with 41 posts are never going to be buying my gear, I just won't sell to them. As sad as it sounds, the dudes that are gear crazy are my market...if you're on all the forums I am and have 3000 posts on all of em I know you're a nut for this shit just like me. I'm not worried about those guys. Random dudes on Reverb? Not unless you can show me some forum references somewhere or I know you.

This is why I jacked up my amp I have for sale on Reverb. $50 every time I sell something on there, $50 to paypal, then shipping. I mean how the F are you supposed to make any money? So I got a few bites on here and SS.org and I'm holding out as long as I can to try and not give TGP $5 to sell my Orange amp on there. LOL. Point being I'd rather sell to guys that know what they want and not some fuckhead like you mention. I haven't been on here long, but I'm as bad as most people on here as far as the volume of gear I shuffle (and lose my shirt on) :aww: . I should get a stock discount for UPS and FEDEX.

Last email I get. "I want the amp, I'll give you my shipping number" Hours later, crickets. 6 posts total

Have him to pop the lid off the Torpedo. The power supply is a switching supply to handle the various voltages. As you can see, the terminal connections to the power switch from the supply and IEC connector are all bladed sockets, any of which could have come loose during shipping, depending on your packaging. Keep in mind, these are all shipped from France, so its not like they haven't already been shipped international. There are no fuses on the TNTL.

Thanks for the help. I will tell him to take a closer look at that. I can't believe this thing doesn't have a fuse I thought all electronics have one.

He had only 1 feedback so I guess I should have been a little hesitant.

Watch out for the "Partial Refund" crap..

"I need a partial refund because I had to push in a jack a little bit. I'm gonna need $250, my time is valuable..."

Don't do eBay/PayPal anymore....sold a Marshall 3 yrs ago, he said there was a problem. Offered some solutions, including new tubes and a checkup at a reputable tech in his area that I would cover. Said no, he wanted a refund. OK, ship it back to me. Never got the amp. UPS said it was delivered, to the WRONG address! WTF??? EBay/PayPal had my address, but they still refunded the buyer and I never saw my amp. UPS said the address was the verified through PayPal address...printed off eBay shipping. I clawed my funds back and closed my account through PayPal/eBay. Told them to fix this themselves. Never heard from them. Only money orders now, which is difficult for some but eBay is way too opportunistic for scammer buyers. Fuck em.

Well turns out the power supply microchip was fried. He took it to a technician and got it fixed and asked me to split the cost which came out to $26. I paid it because I guess I have no choice.

The unit was 100% in working order when I sold it. Obviously when he plugged in @ 240V the chip blew. But the unit is suppose to handle 120-240V with out any problems.

Well looks like they aren't bullet proof and also why on earth the unit doesn't have a fuse to protect the electronics is mind boggling.

Well you got off cheap man. Sucks to have to pay a cent because of someone elses negligence.

Remember to take a video next time. I go as far as to take a video of the date showing on the computer then of the device, in working order, then boxed up properly.

$13 is a smoking deal compared to what you could have been out, Mike. Glad it worked out.

I would of paid the 13 bucks and smiled while doing it if that is the end of the transaction.

$13 is pretty reasonable. Usually you'd be SOL and have to take a return.

Sorry what I meant was I paid $26 half the cost of the tech repair which was $52. At first when I read his message I saw $400 and was like here we go.

But that was $400 Hong Kong dollars which converted to $52 USD. Hopefully there are no more surprises.
