I think it really depends on the speakers you are running the SLO through.

For bedroom metal/aggressive Motley Crue:

bass dimed
mid <2
treble 2-4
presence dimed

Live or in a band mix cut the presence and increase the mids and treble to taste.


In general whereas most amps one starts with tone controls at 12:00 (straight up), the near equivalent with the SLO is mids, treble and prescence at 9:00 or 10:00 positions or ~ 3 or 4 values, IMHO.
