I've played some Warwick basses made in China and couldn't believe how nice they were. Granted, they're more expensive than you'd initially think when you hear "made in China," but there apparently are some Chinese factories that can churn out some pretty nice stuff.
I haven't played a Jackson import in a long time, so I have no idea whether these are nice or not.
I have an Indonesian JS3V bass, and a Chinese KEXTMG guitar and both are made very well. Overseas quality has come a long way over the past several years. With a good setup most of these guitars can rival a much more expensive axe.
I have an Indonesian Squier that, if I'm honest with myself, might be one of the best guitars I've ever played. I have it one a stand in my living room (won't shed any tears if the kids launch a die-cast dump truck toy into it), and everytime I pick it up, I can't believe how much I like it.
