How is the SLO through a Bogner 20th XTC cab???

Am I going to have to get a Soldano 2x12 or 412 cab?

Steve K what IR, Mic and any Eq are you using through the Torpedo Live?

Best cab speakers for it? Think classic rock to Warren Haynes type music…

Damn I didn't even think about a cab

Well, I'm not as cute as Steve K. but -

I use the Eddie cab IR and the 87 mic, no eq. That is with my SLO head. I like the 87 because it seems to have a high mid presence that makes the tone pop. It is also more "in the room" sounding to me. The 57 seems a little smoother and compressed - more like a recorded tone. Now, I can get great tones with either mic by simply repositioning the mic from center out. Just depends which mic. I currently am only at 4% which I think is almost dead center. It is very articulate this way. The stock position was 42%.

Now with an X99 and the power sim I used lots of different cabs. The key here was to find the power amp sim and the stage (Pentode or Tri) that worked well together and then demo the cabs. I would find a cab IR that I thought WTF and then I would go back and change the power amp and flip the pentose/tri and all of a sudden I got it. The V30 ir works great with the PP-EL34 on tri - at least for me. And when I first tried the ppel34 it is in pentode mode and I disliked it a lot - flipped the switch and bam - good tunes. This is my favorite single coil IR for more classic tones.

Point is you have to play with it a little.

The mic and cab I use are a little lowend-ish, but by placing the mic toward the center it cleans up. I found this better than having a mic/cab that had a higher end response and pulling the mic from center to darken it up. Just my preference. Kind of finding my base tone with the cab/mic combo and using the mic position to dial it in.

:)

I use the British V30 cab sim and a 57. Moved the mic a little off center. I ride the presence a little high on the amp. I just turn the EQ on and cut the upper mids a bit and the high. With the FRFR monitors, it doesn't need much help.

That combo worked for me as well.

Hoping I win it. Kinda excited to add it to the collection. I don't feel like doing "Buy it Now". We will see in 3 days

I promise not to drive the price up if you sell my your xtc for 2k.

  Um yeahhhh

are you putting the 20th up for sale? or just going with more amps?
The 20th will cover my clean and Blue channel, classic rock, jazz/Blues stuff.

The Slo will cover Sonic SLO stuff

Just adding. Figured since I sold my Axe II and recovered money owed from a customer before I needed it, I would get a SLO. I really liked it in the Axe and sort of tired of trying to dial in digital effects. I just bought a few pedals to start building a rack tray and a Combo satinet for my Mk V. Taking the Mk III out of the set up for a while and throw it in a road case and store it until I get the urge to play it again.

If this all works out I might buy an Egnater SS4 to run all amps into the Torpedo Live or pick up a Two notes VB101 and Radial ToneBone amp switcher to run 2 amps into the VB101.

Crazy

Well the guy yanked the it off of Evil bay :gethim:

Said he is going to keep it and send it to Dave Friedman for a loop mod and keep it for a back up with his Bogner. He said he didn't want to sell his amp for half its value. :aww:

On the positive side… I just paid off 2 credit cards and knocked the hell out of a few others

I tried my SLO thru my V30 Bogner 4x12 and didn't really like it as much as my Marshall greenback cab. To me, the SLO sounds better with the 25 watt speakers - warmer, less ice picky. Granted, I didn't spend a whole lot of time dialing it in. Maybe with some better tweaking, the SLO would rock nicely with the Bogner 4x12.

Just buy a new one, tricked out like you want it. Ensures you aren't getting one that someone has messed with and original warranty.

I do not have 4+ grand laying around for an amp that won't make me money because I just jam at home  :aww:

I think you are better off personally. That said, if you have to have the SLO just be patient. They can be had around 2400-2600.

Yeah I can wait. I just plugged into the 20th and gas was cured for awhile :D

Selling my Mk III maybe  and anything else I don't really need. I am happy with the 20th and Mk V. The SLO will just be a bonus later on :D
