^that's interesting. I never noticed that on mine. I'm gonna see if mine does that. I never touch the clean channel so I really don't move the eq on that channel.

On an unrelated sidenote I "accidentally" discovered a similar channel bleed crossover experience with one specific eq control on my old Rev 2 Uberschall, and remember calling Bogner about it.

I can't remember the guy I was talking to as it was awhile ago, but he had the schematic out in front of him and I was plugged in trying to hold the phone to the speaker while turning the control to see if he could hear it.

Interesting little slice about the clean channel EQ bleed, I'll be checking that out pronto now, lol. I had a JCM800 2205 that did this, can't say it bothered me much one way or the other but it was definitely there (after first reading about it, thought it might be a myth).

And yeah, Gear 1 OD 2 is sweet as honey, especially for rhythm work - a fair amount of boost will also push that over the top for crazier, saturated leads. I personally like 2nd Gear OD 2 and a much smaller boost (from a pedal) for solo tones, it's a bit warmer than 1st, less teeth to it, a perfect lead tone actually to track over Gear 1 sounds. The QR is by far the best amp I've ever owned, and for nearly three years now, the longest running, lol. I sold the previously mentioned 2205 within a couple of weeks of the QR purchase - I was that sure of things....and I never regret it.

Yeah, the Splawns seem to be a love/not love thing. I love mine.

Gear 2/OD2/half power/smallblocks

Mine does not have that channel bleed-over BTW. I do run with the Treble on '0' though

Yeah I had a Marshall with channel bleed too. I don't use the clean channel to much so its no big deal to me.

I had a buddy come over thurs nite and he heard my Splawn and LOVED it....then he played through it and HATED it   Said he liked his tone better, which is an ancient digitech RP-1 and a ss poweramp

You must have a good grip on your playing and know how to get your guitar to be "one" with your amp with the Splawn stuff imo. He wanted more distortion...or something :D I told him to just play and trust that the amp sounds good...but for once your shitty playing isnt being hidden by gobs of solid state distortion. It was a true eye opener for him

There's a bit of a technique to playing these dry and focused amps, and he just didnt have it. He's a decent player but just couldnt get a handle on it. Heck, I suck and am still struggling at times. Not poking fun at him really, just stating the obvious for why some people just dont like Splawns. A good player will make the amp shine...an average or below average player will probably not jive to well with it. Give it time and it will make you a much much better player...then you will appreciate what the amp really is

make sense? ...Im rambling

I have a Quick Rod, I love it, and I kind of suck, hahahahaha!!!

Love my Splawn Competition. 50 watts, older version without 3rd gear. I had a Nitro also and that thing was just sick. I ended up keeping the single channel Comp because it was actually MORE versatile for ME. The Competition as kept it's place and has won the battle of who stays and who goes since owning it. Even beat out my old (oct 2010) 4 channel MAK4 in every way except a dedicated clean. Cleans up plenty good for me though. I usually play in mode(gear) 2 OD1 and can go up(to OD2) or down from there.

The nice thing about the Competition and the Pro Stock is that you can shift a gear with the foot switch as well as choose OD1 or OD2 and a Solo Boost. That is why I am thinking about the Pro Stock...

I owned 6 splawn amps and im a big fan of the nitro with kt88, its one of my favorite amps along with the promod. I recently sold my nitro because i had too many amps and felt guilty that it wasnt getting played, i will definately own another someday.

I ran into that when I went from an ADA MP-1 to a Triaxis. First, the eq's are totally different, but the Tri was a lot stiffer. From there I went to an Engl Powerball, ran into the problem again, needed to get my picking in order. I bought a Cameron and that was really easy to play compared to the Powerball. After that I bought a CAA, wow, eye opener!!! I absolutely loved the tone and absolutely could not play it, at all. I had to come to grips with the soul crushing and sold it. I don't know if the PT's are any softer or if the SE+ is easier, but the OD100 was too demanding.

I would love to try a Splawn or a Marsha, as the Cameron is my favorite amp, but I'm pretty limited by not having a volume boost and a clean channel.

I've got a QR and love it. Mine has my favorite headshell and knobs too. Its an older 3 preamp tube, but I had a newer Splawn fx loop with the volume installed so I get the best of both versions.

That is the exact headshell and chassis appointment I want.... Nice!
