Techs: I need help ( Engl amps suck )

techy, just pull out your chassis. it takes no time.

I pull the chassis on all my amps :dunno:

It arouses me. Kind of like peaking up a skirt. I know that's weird but I feel like you guys are the only ones I can share this with. Am I bad? Do I need help?

@Techdeth - so are your fuses in that holder by the power cord like in that photo? Doesn't hurt to check your amps, look at caps, traces, fuse locations, etc. Not to mention taking pics. Another little trick is you can pull all the power tubes, put in a new fuse, power it on, and if the fuse blows, you know you have an issue that is going to need a tech. As long as you don't put both hands inside the chassis at the same time, you will survive. Best to not touch anything with you bare hand though - out of respect.

Dude I’d fuck something up . I’m only good at playing and teaching guitar . But I can change a fuse of course . I just never had an amp with no acces like that . Well there is but never seen it that way

But if you don't touch anything, you can't fuck it up :dunno:

And not all fuses are accessible from the outside.

Listen…it takes Nik a day or two before he will actually do anything…I think it’s because of the steady edible diet….lol…has to come down a little bit….

You know… I read so many stories about the low quality of ENGL PCBs, but I was still considering it. Then this thread popped up and one of my KRK monitors died. After the nightmare of pulling the amplifier section and PCB out of that thing and removing the black glue shit. I’ll pass. Not dealing with anything that is anti-consumer anymore.

I do like the sound of the Engls I've played, but from the look of their insides, I wish they were priced more like a Peavey (which maybe they are in Europe?).

I love the Engl sound. Would love to have one…. But would not spend a lot of money on one….

The 3-4 channel Engls often have multi-layered PCBs facing inwards which are way too complicated for local techs who mostly worked on jcm/6505's. I love the Engl sound but the only thing I feel comfortable owning is the E530 preamp since everything faces outwards on the PCB.

Still want to try that preamp. Maybe run it through the DSL effects loop

The Artist and Blackmore can be had for around a grand used in great condition if you shop around. I've had both and never had issues in a combined 8 years of running them but maybe I was lucky?
