Well I know that's not true...you probably just think there's greener pastures and flip things. :D

Your video of the Budda sounds killer Vlad.

Which one? That plexi-ish tone?
This one...sounds like it has nice aggression on chords without a ton of gain and a bit of a compressed Brian May thing on the single notes.

Hahahaha... I knew it...
That was the clean channel with the gain cranked and an SD-1. It sounded godly. The video doesn't do it justice...

When James Peters sent me my first head it had a clean channel and a heavy channel.
I only ever used the clean channel with the gain cranked with pedals, so I had him make me that (with more gain) in a combo.
I guess I like an amp with less preamp gain stages....girth baby!

Yeah i couldn't get that tone on the high-gain channel... It was just mammoth.

They're hard to find man...
I saw one at GC. SD30 combo and played it. Decided to ditch the Bogner XTC Classic and get the SD80... :D

And I'm almost always wrong, ergo...
I've been actually using the Bad Cat 5 watt combo on the last few gigs with pedals. The guys in the band were shocked when they first saw the tiny thing....but shut up quick. :D

Yeah, I'd rank that up there with the all-time sleeper amps.

Vlad, if you get a chance try 6550s in the SD80...

I'm guessing from what people are saying the Bad Cat is in the ballpark of the Budda...Marshally with a Vox flavor?

How do the 6550's sound in there? I got 6L6s in there now

MMmmmm...kinda sorta maybe. There are similarities between that mini cat and the rhythm channel of the Superdrives. The Twinmaster is spankier than either of them. Has some kerrang and glass to it....

I didn't care much for what they did to the gain side, but I don't have much love in general for 6550 amps. But the clean side became HUGE. It sounded like a grand piano...

I wouldn't bother buying a set to try it but if you have any around or ever get the chance, try it out.

Great clips. What is the "Twinmaster?" Spotted one of those locally for a great price, now wondering if I should check it out in person (beyond just glancing at it). I've been looking for a complimentary amp for the QR, something with better cleans, more vintagey (pre 80's) crunch (and possibly even heavier crunch with a pedal). Also, are Budda amps fairly easy to bias (say with only a mult-meter)?

They are self biasing. Absolutely love EL34's in the 45!

Thanks for that! That little slice of info now forces me to make the short drive sat morn to check it out - hope it'll still be there. (=

Too much headroom on the gain?

Leaning too much towards the modern for me, I guess.
