Any Anvil song. They don't deserve the title on musical grounds, but for sheer tenacity and prolificness I think they should win something just once.

Maybe an art award for the drummer too.

Thing is….Spinal Tap’s shit sandwich LP describes only one of their releases. That potty photo can easily represent almost any Anvil record. Canada’s biggest metal embarrassment.

Well it’s one of my favorite songs in I’ll say rock or metal, so I’ll agree. I think just being younger than many here I used to have this idea in my head that if there’s real singing or if it’s too melodic that it’s not metal haha
I know you’re younger so that’s why I’m usually half joking with you. Don’t despair, one day your posts will take on the dignified, mature and tactful nature mine do.

For now I’m more brash and energetic like the sounds I go for lol. I don’t know if I’d be on here anymore if I become mature and tactful

That record was unbelievably influential...A real game changer in the entire metal genre. Astounding.
that style got drug threw the mud pretty good in the mid 2000's, especially when the american bands started doing it. no one could touch the original. SOS is one of my go to albums when i'm doing my cardio. ?‍♂️

Once metal, it shall always remain metal. If it’s not metal now, it was never metal then. I will not stand for genre reassignment surgery in any shape or form. Good day to you sir! :D
Ya it’s just a different shade of metal

Master of Puppets will always be my favorite. It's been played to death at this point but when I was a 16 year old in the back of a friend's car in 86' in Germany and heard this for the first time, I was blown away.

Nobody was doing what they were back then and the weird stops during the riff and the speed was just insane for the 80s. The slow middle part just sounds amazing.
I love "Seek and Destroy " and "Sad but true" also .

That's the song that I think of when I think perfect metal tune, it has it all.

Megadeth's "holy wars... the punishment due" and "the conjuring" come in a close second for me. I actually prefer Peace Sells as a whole, cause it's so damn evil and relentless while RIP has some song's that I kinda hate, like "Lucretia" it's such a happy sounding song despite Marty's great solo. "poison was the cure" is another weak one, "dawn patrol" should have just been left off the album. While PS...BWB only weak track IMO IS "I ain't superstitious". The rest of them are great songs and have that evil vibe that good metal should have.

definitely up there, couple spots i think hammett could have done a little better but i have no argument against One
Ya, Hammett's second solo in One is a little weak at the end, which is why he does a better rendition of it live. Alot of his solo's on AJFA seem rushed or incomplete... listen to the one in Frayed Ends Of Sanity, it's terrible, and this was a time (the 80's) when Hammett made every note count in his leads, not just the crappy improvised pentatonic wankery that he does today. I don't think he plays a single bad note on the whole MOP album, plus he uses some different scale patterns besides pentatonic in some of the leads, as well as some arpeggios. I believe there was a time when he cared about playing great solos.
