The Cockmaster speaks on stage volume

We had the misfortune of playing this place booked by a couple of friends which was an Italian club. Bocce ball, bingo hall and this big restaurant with a stage. We were playing a dinner set (food was killer) and had to keep turning down as we were playing. By the end of the set I could hear myself hitting the strings on stage over my amp (like some of those shitty YouTube gear demos).

Just play outdoor gigs. Problem solved.

Seriously though, way back in 91 we signed with an agency. They came to watch us and recommended we always 'side wash' our amps. That way you don't project out and compete with the PA. Much quieter that way, easier to control the overall stage volume. Been doing that ever since. Except with outdoor gigs, when you can let loose and crank em facing out.

if people want more control, they should utilize their time more (if possible), and take notes. They should show up earlier (if possible). Nowadays, they can utilize soundboard snapshots from which to tweak. I am impressed with live show sound quality these days.
