Tool getting sued by fans

I guess the sets were unique if they weren't identical to other sets, even if some individual songs repeated.

I dunno. This whole destination concert thing struck me as kinda funny. I mean, this is the band that wrote Hooker with a Penis, so can their big fans really be surprised by this type of stuff?

"NNNNNNNNNNGGG I was promised two unique sets when in fact they repeated 4 songs! I will be contacting my lawyer post haste!!"

Me and a buddy almost did this trip.

I like Tool but unfortunately, I don't know their catalog as well as others.

If the band doesn't settle the plaintiff's won't win a dime.

Still kind of a douchebag thing to due as a band though. Does this mean that out of all those albums they can't come up with more than 13 songs that are worth playing for the fans?

The only band named after their target audience

"Statement from Maynard regarding this weekends events:

“I’m not in the habit of making excuses for our bands choice of set lists. Myself and the other members discussed the choice of songs before the festival with me having the final say, being I’m the one who has to perform these songs vocally. My back has been bothering me lately, my throat began to be extremely parched upon arrival to the venue, and caught a bad dose of food poisoning (projectile vomiting and burning diarrhea) from the food from the initial meal. I decided to create the set list to make it as easy as I could on myself. I knew we’d receive backlash for these choices and frankly I could give two fucks about your opinions. You’re all lucky we didn’t cancel. In the future I will make every attempt to make all you goddamn crybabies happy by straining my aged voice and incorporate a different song into future shows”
Peace, love and harmony,
Maynard"

Just to put this in relative perspective. I saw HOF on the end of one of their tours, and was literally so close to Pike I was getting hit with his sweat, and unfortunately snot and spit too. He was obviously sick as a dog, blowing huge green oysters out one side of his nose on to the stage all night. I for fucking real caught the flu from him and it was a brutal fever, chills, feeling like death warmed over kind of bug. That mother fucker killed it live, played like a madman, and did an encode.

Fuck Maynard. He's always been a whiney primadona douchebag.

But the real question is did they use different amps each night?
Damn all I can do laugh a little. Seems a little whiny on all sides.

But on one hand if I paid for airfare to the Dom Rep, hotels and everything, to pay an extra night and all associated costs and get a shorter show with repeated songs with the promise of a unique show, I’d be upset and disappointed.

If Maynard had Pike’s work ethic, the front row would’ve been hosed with projectile vomit and burning diarrhea.
Imagine that lawsuit!

In the bands defense it could be said it was a uniquely disappointing set.

Yeah, this wasn't your average random show. And it was billed as separate set lists. Sometimes that is a big deal to people. With food and drink you are dropping $5K plus and I don't think I'd want to hear 4 songs AGAIN on the second set.

My question is why were those 4 (not familiar with which 4) were easier for Maynard? He probably would have been better off pulling an Ozzy or DLR and asked the audience to sing it

I’m a tool. I’d be spewing if I went expecting to see two unique sets and didn’t get that, having the singer tell me to get fucked doesn’t help either. There’s no way I’d care enough that I’d put time and energy into suing the band for it though lolol.

Bunch of rich dudes trying to take some other rich dudes to court.

10 songs night 1
9 songs night 2
Granted, these can be very long extended jams but....
Half the show is practically what they would have played the night before.
Maynard's comments are not helping as our @yngHL pointed out

I wonder how many are pissed they saw a similar set two nights in a row also have gone to multiple shows on past tours to see literally the same setlist?

Different in that in those 'tour' situations the fan knows what they are buying. This was in Dominican Republic billed as "Tool In The Sand". 2 nights / 2 unique set lists. We considered going. I think I'd be pissed too if they cut the second night short and played 4 repeat songs. I don't listen to Tool because of Maynard anyway - it is the dat guitar. Let the audience sing along to 'instrumentals' of 4 different songs not repeated songs :dunno:
