Van Hagar haters

No hate its just not my "Van Halen" that took the world by storm.
Ed's "tapping & wanging" during the Hagar yrs all sounds the same to my ears.

Van Hagar definitely had better songs. They weren't as gonzo or straight up rocking though. A lot of the Roth era was not quite filler, but there were the great songs and then there were the other songs

I appreciate both versions, but I was a pretty big Sammy fan before he joined. I'll always love OG V/H as well. That grit, energy and drive was unbelievable.

We all have out opines now don't we.
Satch wanking does not a great show make.
Riverport / Hollywood max cap is 20K not 700K and most of that is sitting in the mud.

NOW THIS WAS A SHOW.

Satch played on "Humans Being"? Didn't know that.

Sammy on the Can't drive 55 tour, was one of my favorite concerts! Awesome show. So not anti Sammy.

But.

Van Hagar is for the most part sappy radio friendly crap.

Van Halen records I bought when they came out with DLR. I don't know 4 maybe five. Saw them since '79 up to Diver Down. Records or CD's whatever with Sammy - zero, shows - zero. That didn't stop everyone else obviously. So I couldn't really call it hate but zero interest

Honestly the hits are most some yes . But some some songs like this just rock
And I think Eddie’s to blame for that . He wrote all the gay keyboard songs . What’s Sammy to do ??? You know

Yes.

When I bought 1984 the day it came out and listened to the cassette in my Walkman, I almost puked when I heard the keyboards.

Van Hagar is 1000 times more keyboard/ radio orientated. Not a fan of the sappy songs. I agree that there are a few rockers, and Eddie was still a monster on the geetar.

Right. I remember all the magazines and critics saying over and over and over, the new songs are better, the songwriting is so much better. Yes, the songs are so much better that no one likes them more and none of them are considered classics. Classic rock radio station in LA plays a Sammy era VH song once for every 100x they play a Roth era one. Probably because the Roth songs aren't as good. Was nonsense in 1986 when those simps were writing it and remains nonsense 40 years later.

Probably Eddie's fault. Roth with Eddie had some nuts to the music. Hagar with Eddie was as smooth as a Ken doll.
