I think Madonna's Rain is a masterpiece but would not have those guys trying to capture vintage VH.
I think if anyone is expecting vintage Van Halen to be recorded, they are setting themselves up for a huge let down.

Well that is why there is all the negative comments, most of us saw VH at their peak, an all out sonic reckless attack. I last saw VH at the LIve Without a Net show in New Haven and that is how I will remember Ed live. Not some sideshow wheeled out to hauk EVH branded gear.

I doubt it will be Fair Warning (insert favorite VH album here) the second coming, but I hope it is something worth listening to. The 2 newer tunes with DLR on the best of cd were pretty decent.

I stand corrected. I have not heard the tapes. I have heard first hand from the guys making the record that it is really good, that EVH's playing was back and DLR was singing his ass off.

Ths is what we wanted to hear. I hope what you're hearing is right. That would rule. You'll probably hear the whole thing before the rest of us do, so keep us posted.

+1.....same here! EVH will always be the king.

Not for nothing but blind faith, back slappers, yes men, and enablers created Ed into this.........................

If the same people really spoke the truth............................

Hey Edward, get rid of the 5150 III amp and let Rockstah(Rockstah amps) build you a amp or go with the VHT/Fryette Deliverance head......

In terms of an all out sonic reckless attack, everything after VH1 was not up to par. There has always been a constant evolution to Eddie's playing. And there will have been a peak too. This is nature. IMO, there has always been value to Eddie's work, regardless of era...some good and some not so good (this applies to "vintage" VH as well). Even VHIII. Honestly, I'd hate to restrict myself to particular eras because that's what I liked and expected from then on. I'd miss out on some cool stuff.

You know what happens when you get a guy that does the same shit over and over again? Yngwie. Mind boggling for about 2-3 minutes and then a snooze fest. Fuck that.

You were there? No doubt Eddie was on fire. One of my favorite recordings of him.

And the only reason you aren't selling Digital Jams branded gear is because there isn't any.

Yup, both shows.

1st night eddie's wireless crapped out and was shackled to a cables, had black pants on. 2nd night was the pink pants night and the wireless held up. 1st song by the way was You Really Got Me, Only One Way was the 2nd tune of the night. Stage was loaded with bras

If if people are blinded and butt loaded with cash to give to drunks that is there decision

I would like my professionals to put on a professional show for my money, hell I get clips here for free with way better playing and cds from formites for good prices.

Yeah, u have a point, but the bottom line is that ed and his music were a part of an entire generations youth not to mention all of the guitarists who love him so people will always enjoy watching him an listening to his music even if its not up to the same quality as years ago. U can tell he is fucked up and just a shell of his former self in that vid but u know that deep down theres still some gems to be found. I for one would welcome a new album from vh with roth after hearing the shit we call modern music on the radio, it is needed now more then ever.

I understand that. In terms of of CDs released by VH, I am unaware of something that was not professional with some great guitar on it. I also don't recall a VH show that I went to that I didn't get my money's worth. I'm not entirely certain what you are getting at here.

There is little doubt that Eddie has fallen a long way. He's also fought some pretty nasty fights with some nasty illnesses. And he's let himself go beyond any reasoning. It's a shame, it truly is. I have no expectations for any new CD. I hope there is some cool stuff. If so, great. If not, that's ok too. Eddie has nothing to prove to me that he didn't prove a long time ago.

When it comes to VH I am always optimistic. The pictures of him lately and some of the clips from NAMM lead me to believe he may have actually cleaned up his act this time. God knows the guy needs to based on that vid you posted.

And for the record, I haven't played an EBMM EVH/Axis, Peavey Wolfgang, 5150 or 5150III that I didn't like. I'm fairly confident many men on this forum would agree. The above mentioned guitars (of which I don't currently own) blow away those newer Charvels (I am currently playing a Charvel) in terms of quality and playability, in my humble opinion. After all, if it wasn't for EVH would the whole hot rodded strat ever have taken off like it did? To me it made perfect sense for him to collaborate on or develop his own line gear...Shit, every douch-bag musician out there has a signature whitch-a-ma-bob. I think Clapton and Page were heroin addicts for a while; does that mean we shouldn't buy strats or les pauls

If I agreed with the Music Mans and Peaveys being better comment, I'd yank them off the wall when they come in and keep those instead of the Charvels. The Music Man ones are VERY nice, but that neck shape and those dinky frets and those high output pickups and that basswood/maple top combination all contribute to a guitar that just doesn't jive with me. And we haven't even gotten into the aesthetics which are polarizing to say the least and the ergonomics of no forearm contour.

Like all things Ed in my view, everything about him was cooler when he was younger.... including the parts mutts, Charvels, Ibanez Destroyer, junky pedals and crappy, beat up old Marshall stuff. The EVH 5150III is bad ass though.

I wouldn't mind reading a whole thread about that red, relic'd super strat in your avatar though with lots of pics!

I am looking forward to hearing it, with hope that it is good.
