That Cameron Jose clip is still the best high-gain Marshall I've heard online. Definitely a benchmark. What are the details of that amp? Just a standard Cameron Jose mod? Or what?

It was a standard Jose mod as far as I know. It had 4 push pulls, volume for clipping, two gains for bright caps and depth pot to make it darker. I do know it was a massive sounding 50 watt amp. It was up for sale a few years ago, but the input jack (heavy duty switchcraft) was changed out and a bunch of zip ties were changed... so someone was clearly tinkering with it. I was going to buy it back until I saw the changes. The seller thought I was trying to sabotage his sale when I mentioned the changes, which I wasn't.

To really stir the pot, I sold another killer 100 way Jose to someone on this board (I don't want to name him since he still owns it).... and the amp dripped with gain and tone. These two were the best Cameron Jose mods I've heard. 232cap had one that was modded in the last few years that was ripping as well. He should have kept it. ;)

Yea Dave that one I had was the best of the 5 0r 6 I owned or heard, yea sounded like this 50w that I also owned but with another 20% on tap. It was a monster, should have kept it.

That Cameron is awesome...holy shit...

Do you have any videos of your Mesa Boogies ???

No videos of the boogies. They are hard to capture on the video camera since they throw so much bottom end.

Aloha Dave... Yup, The Cameron amps own all, but the Fortin sounds cool too.

You RAWK!!!

I have a couple of videos using my 100 watt Cameron modded (Jose) Marshall SLP (Rhythms and intro noodling, but from the Solo out, is the Boogie MKIII Coliseum). Not set quite as heavy as your clip, but it's in there. All the cabs have H30's

I had a great hour long conversation w/ Mark the day before yesterday. He is my favorite amp modder.

Same here as for the Cameron Jose SLP is covering all the Rhythms and the Boogie MKIII Coli is covering the solo

This one is the Boogie on the R2 channel for the intro and verses, the Cameron for the heavy rhythm parts, and the Boogie on the Lead channel for the solos

I didn't have the Cameron Atomica at the time, but here it is keeping in the same theme of the Journey stuff, using the Atomica. Ignore all the clams, there are a few.

Another Atomica clip using a guitar w/ EMG (Lukather set)

Yeah, I think a few of you guys got the word on which ones to get and they were passed around.. unfortunately, I just bought blind, tone was ok on the first but not great at all on the second one. I stopped buying after that. I read somewhere on here from people with way more experience with these amps than me, that they were all different. I think thats probably right.

they were both the jose mods with the zener switch on back

I wouldn't doubt if some amps were messed around with. People trying to copy the mods and messing stuff up. Then selling off an amp that doesn't sound like when it left Mark. Like I said above. I saw the 50 watt amps for sale with a changed out I out jacks and all of the zip ties were changed. Clearly someone was poking around in the amp. Zip ties just don't wear out or need to be replaced. lol

Seems a priority now to take detailed photo's of modded amps these days if you ever might be interested in re-aquiring it down the road...

Heck yeah. A lot of stores allow returns these days... 45 days later. I open stuff and check it out right away. It's easy to buy something, yank out the new tubes and slap in your old worn tubes. I wouldn't do it, but I'm sure people do it.

Man, I want that amp. Anybody know who has it now?

I am mixed about it now since someone jacked with it since I sold it and I sold it because my CCV sounded as good, if not better and had more options. I still love my CCV and it's going on 6 years I've owned it.

Interesting. I had a CCV and thought it sounded mediocre lol

Voiced much lower in the mid range. Quite dark. Reminded me more of a Bogner than anything.
