I bought a new HP printer and it wouldn't work unless it was hooked up to the cloud and a mandatory ink subscription so I really didn't own the printer that I paid for which is what I think she is getting at.

I had to really look for a non-subscription printer and I got a Canon where I purchase the ink when I need it and I control all aspects of the printer like my old HP and none of my print jobs get sent to the cloud. F- HP

The printer shit is a shame. I was very sad when my HP laserjet II with a JetDirect and Postscript cartridge finally died in a way I wasn't willing to fix. It was basically impossible to find any computer that couldn't print to it natively and toner was barely above raw material cost.

Yep. Can confirm. My boss bought one and had to keep it off Wi-Fi or it automatically started the subscription thing. What a fucking crock of shit.

HP would not come right out and say that all print jobs must route to the cloud and mandatory ink subscriptions and your printer won't work but that is exactly the case. I tried every workaround that multiple people said would get the printer to work without the cloud and mandatory ink subscriptions and I just gave up and bought the Canon. But even Canon is starting to do the same thing. I had to download the drivers from Canon's website because they no longer send the printers with a CD rom with the drivers on them.

I'm hearing even new cars features that you bought after one year turn off and you must do a monthly subscription to get them back. This is after you paid 50-100K for your new car.
